"SOMETIMES, THE HARDEST TRUTHS TO FACE AREN'T JUST THE ONES THAT SOLVE CASES—THEY'RE THE ONES THAT FORCE US TO CONFRONT WHAT WE'VE BURIED WITHIN OURSELVES."

CIB HEADQUATER, MUMBAI

The CIB headquarters was bustling with activity the following morning as Esha walked in, determined to build on the progress they had made the previous day. The witness's testimony had injected new life into the investigation, and Esha was eager to continue unraveling the mystery of Meera Khanna's murder.

As Esha made her way to her desk, she noticed the rest of the team already deep in discussion, their voices a mix of excitement and urgency. It was clear that the new lead had revitalized their efforts, and Esha felt a renewed sense of purpose as she joined them.

"Morning, everyone," Esha said, settling into her chair. "Any updates since yesterday?"

Reyansh, who was standing by the whiteboard covered in photographs and notes, turned to address the team. "Morning, Esha. We've been cross-referencing Mrs. Sharma's description with our list of suspects. There's one individual who matches her account—Vikram Singh."

Esha felt a jolt of recognition at the name. Vikram Singh had been one of the original suspects in the case, a business associate of Meera's father who had been present at several political gatherings she attended.

"Vikram Singh was initially cleared due to an alibi, but there were always doubts about his involvement," Reyansh continued. "Mrs. Sharma's description matches him perfectly—tall, dark hair, often seen wearing a leather jacket."

Esha nodded, remembering the details from the original investigation. "His alibi was that he was attending a business meeting at the time of the murder. Did we verify his alibi back then?"

"We did, but it was based on testimony from colleagues who could have been covering for him," Raj chimed in. "We didn't have any physical evidence to place him at the scene."

"So, what's our next move?" Esha asked, eager to strategize.

Reyansh tapped the whiteboard, highlighting Vikram's name. "We need to re-examine his alibi, interview his associates again, and see if we can find any inconsistencies. We also need to track down the leather jacket Mrs. Sharma mentioned and see if we can match it to Vikram."

Esha felt the familiar thrill of the chase. It was what she loved most about her job—piecing together clues, following leads, and finally seeing justice served.

As the team split up to tackle different aspects of the investigation, Esha and Reyansh found themselves working closely together again, their professional synergy slowly returning.
