The next morning, Esha awoke with a sense of renewed purpose. The inconsistencies in Vikram's alibi and his connection to Horizon Enterprises had given the investigation new momentum. As she made her way to the CIB headquarters, she couldn't help but think about how close they were to unraveling the truth.
Upon arriving, Esha was greeted by Raj, who had been working through the night. He looked tired but determined.
"Good morning, Esha" Raj said, handing her a fresh cup of coffee. "I've been digging into Horizon Enterprises. It turns out they have ties to a known criminal syndicate operating in the city."
Esha took a sip of the coffee, feeling a surge of energy. "That's a major lead, Raj. Have you been able to identify any specific individuals connected to the syndicate?"
Raj nodded. "I've got a few names. One of them is a man named Arjun Mehta. He's known for his involvement in money laundering and has a history of violence."
Esha's mind raced with possibilities. "If Vikram was dealing with someone like Arjun Mehta, it could explain his behavior. We need to bring Mehta in for questioning."
Reyansh joined them, looking equally determined. "I've been reviewing the surveillance footage from the night of Meera's murder again. There's a gap in the timeline that coincides with Vikram's unaccounted time. It's possible he met with someone during that period."
Esha and Raj exchanged a glance. "If Vikram met with Arjun Mehta that night, it could explain the inconsistencies in his alibi" Esha said.
"We need to find Mehta and see what he knows" Raj agreed.
The team quickly mobilized using their resources to track down Arjun Mehta. After several hours of investigation, they located him at a warehouse on the outskirts of the city. It was a known hideout for the criminal syndicate, and they prepared for a potentially dangerous encounter.
Esha, Reyansh, Raj, and a team of agents approached the warehouse cautiously. The area was eerily quiet, the only sounds being the distant hum of traffic and the chirping of birds. They moved silently, taking positions around the entrance.
Reyansh signaled for the team to move in and they breached the warehouse, their weapons drawn. Inside, they found Arjun Mehta and a group of his associates. The room was filled with crates and machinery, indicating some sort of illicit operation.
"Arjun Mehta, you're under arrest" Reyansh announced, his voice firm.
Mehta and his associates didn't resist, knowing they were outnumbered and outgunned. The agents quickly secured the area and took them into custody.
Back at the CIB headquarters, Mehta was placed in an interrogation room. Esha and Reyansh prepared to question him, hoping to uncover the missing pieces of the puzzle.
As they entered the room, Mehta sat with a defiant expression his hands cuffed to the table.
"Arjun Mehta" Reyansh began, "we have evidence linking you to Horizon Enterprises and a criminal syndicate involved in money laundering and violence. We also have reason to believe you met with Vikram Singh on the night of Meera Khanna's murder."
