After our pizza, our defeat in the losing game, we start back with the brews.

"So how long before you book an earlier flight?" I ask Mike casually.

He contemplates his answer. He misses Yesenia, and I'm feeling the damn effects, too. "You tell me?" He replies back.

"I've looked, knowing you aren't going to last."

He sighs.

"Honestly," he takes a big drink of his beer, " I hope it never goes away. This feeling." he says.

I understand. It's healthy to miss someone, because you really appreciate the person when you finally see them! Once you go numb, you lose yourself, and you lose them completely.

He clears his throat.

"So, what did you find?" he finally asks.

I smirked between my drinks. Already prepared. "It's reserved. Just say the word."

"And the press conference?" he adds.

"Rescheduled. The Execs want me to do a spin on Caleb's sound. Priority." I sternly look at him, "You know the deal."

He smiles.

"Finally defeated?" He asks.

"Not if you got more of your fucking ballads or panty drop lyrics..." I tempt him, "You know they're giving me shit to get you back on tour."

He gets quiet for a second. He's thinking and between his eyebrow that shifts; I wonder what he's got planned...

He stands walking to my fridge. Not before he slaps my chest, ""For Caleb?" He says.

My eyebrows lift.

He hands me another brew as I nod my head in appreciation, "You saying you want to do a song for Caleb?"

He sits, quietly, leaning on his open thighs. His beer hangs between his legs. He's completely lost in thought.

"I've worked hard to stay on top. Well, we have..." He says. He lifts his beer to me and the cold tap between the glass tings loud. "I like the kid. I see myself in him."

I nod my head in a deep understanding.

"When he's at the studio I like the songs he commits too. The brand I see him in, especially when he tries out my lyrics. I see myself mentoring others. No drama. No heavy commitments to travel. Still keep my status strong. I think I'm at a point in my life where my name has enough credit."

He definitely gave me a full mouthful. His decision not to step down, but change his music career. Build his life by reputation and still be devoted to his family. I never thought I would see this day, but the man has gifts! He's written most of his own lyrics! He's also sold some of his songs to other artists.

Which have been extremely successful!

"You've thought about this, huh?" I weakly ask.

He smirks, "I got choices..."

"Yesenia?"

"She knows but isn't pushing for a decision. She has concerns about our future and kids. We both have huge priorities, but she's done this once before," He smiles thinking about Mario, "My career started with you."

Mario is an awesome kid! A damn good drummer! That kid gives me a visual of his future career. He's still a teenager, and Yesenia, who raised him, wants him to finish his schooling. Hopefully he takes it further! His Mom, Yesenia's sister, wants him to apply for Universities soon.

Sometimes our dreams need different paths to experience success.

"So," I get up, slapping his shoulder, "am I calling the Private Flight? What's your choice?"
