"So... this is my place" Fermín said as he unlocked the door to a flat in a modern, discreet apartment complex.
"It's very... clean" I said, trying to hide my surprise at the very minimal decoration. At his house in El Campillo, there were photos hanging everywhere and small decorations adorned the family home.
"I know what you're thinking. I've just moved in a few weeks ago and had no time to make something out of it yet" he chuckled.
"Maybe I could... no, forget it" I started, but shook off the thought after remembering us bickering around just an hour ago.
"No... please..." he said and walked over to me, taking a hand of mine and covering it with both his hands.
"No, it's stupid" I mumbled and looked at the ground.
"Tell me. You're stupid anyways" he chuckled and I lifted my eyes to look up at him with an "Are you serious?" face that broke into a smile though.
"If you want, I can help you put up some nice things and stuff. I'll have to drive to IKEA some time these days and... if you want... we could go together and get some stuff for you too..." I muttered.
"That's a great idea. Thanks for helping me out. You'll surely do amazing with your architecture stuff and so" he replied.

"Ok, you can crash in my room and I'll take the couch for tonight" he said, transforming the sitting area in front of his TV into a sofa bed.
"Stop this hero shit, I'm the guest, I'll take the couch. It's not like I'm the pro athlete" I replied and slumped down on the guest accommodation.
"Great, now I can make the cheesy move of suggesting to sleep in my bed together" he said and grinned.
"Surely not" I replied and hit him with one of the sofa's cushions.

After asking me a hundred times if I had everything or needed anything, Fermín finally managed to leave me alone and go to his room, closing the door behind him. I pulled out my pyjamas and toiletry bag before heading to the bathroom to get ready for the night. When I was done and opened the door again, Fermín stood in front of me and I quickly covered myself.
"Chill, you're dressed. And it's not like I haven't seen it before" he said as he pushed past me.
"Yeah, well, my boobs grew, just FYI" I shot back, trying to sound confident.
"I know, it was hard not to notice seeing you half-naked basically all summer" he teased me. I just groaned and stomped on the ground before walking to my sofa bed and disappearing under the blanket.

The next morning, I woke up by the sound of dishes and clattering pans.
"Jeez, you couldn't have manoeuvred any louder around your kitchen" I said as I tapped into the kitchen.
"Maybe I can! I should try next time when you're around" he said with a fake smile.
"There will be no next time when I'm around" I scoffed.
"That's sad" he said, but this time, I couldn't tell if he was joking or not. Probably was.

"When's your appointment with your landlord?" he asked as he finished stuffing his omelette into his mouth.
"At 11. I actually have to go soon" I replied, checking my watch.
"Perfect. I'll go with you, I have to head to training soon after anyways" he said and started loading the dishwasher.
"What? I don't think there's any need-" I started, but he cut me off.
"Who knows if this guy isn't a creep? No, no, I'll come with you and then I can also bring those boxes you gave me back home and I can help you unload, you'll be much quicker" he said as he sprinted around his flat, gathering all his stuff.
"You annoy me when you're being nice" I huffed.
"I also annoy you when I'm being annoying" he chuckled.
"Aw, that sounds like a trope from a romantic movie" I swooned. He walked over to his trash bin, opened it and faked vomiting inside.

Eventually, we got going and he followed my crammed, small, old car with his shiny black BMW. We arrived at my apartment building, where a nice old Grandpa was waiting next to the garage entrance.
"Are you Miss Rivera?" he asked as I rolled down my window.
"Yes, you must be Mr Morales?" I asked and he nodded.
"Your parking slot is number 32, I'll meet you there." he said friendly and I did as he said. Out of nowhere, Fermín appeared by my side and started unloading two suitcases from my trunk.

"I thought it was just going to be you living here?" the old man asked as we were standing in the elevator that was taking us upwards.
"She is. I'm just her humble servant" Fermín replied and my landlord looked at him with a confused look on his face. Way to make a good first impression. After showing me around and explaining me stuff like the boiler and electricity (of which I understood nothing), he left me two sets of keys and left again after wishing me all the best.

"Cozy" Fermín commented and smiled.
"It's my first place" I swooned. "Imagine me living here until I get married, eeeek!" I added excitedly.
"Poor guy" Fermín sighed and I just slapped him. We decided to unload the cars quickly, as he had to head over to training soon.
"Ok, if you need anything-" Fermín started, but I cut him off.
"I'll be fine. Thanks for everything" I replied and went over to hug him. He tightened his grip around me a bit, which was unusual, but it felt good and I lost myself in that embrace for a minute before letting go again.
"I'm happy that you're here and I hope you'll find all the happiness you deserve" he whispered as he pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. My breathing got heavier and shaky and in that moment, my gaze shifted to his lips. What the hell?! No, no, I quickly shot him a smile and walked towards the door to show him out.
