𝘼𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣, sat alone in a nearby pub and was surprised when a red-eyed Volturi who was not Alec sat across from her.

"I'm surprised he sent you, I was expecting that big man or that other handsome one." I grinned widely and the Volturi guard did not look happy in front of me.

"You really hurt my brother with your words." She spoke and stared with a firm grip on her eyes, which must have glowed far away with red.

"You haven't heard of contact lenses? I thought the Volturi's job was to protect our species from humans." I spoke boldly and pointed with my eyes around us where there were a few people sitting.

Jane raised an eyebrow and leaned forward. "I see you are trying to be brave, remember without your gift I will be able to hurt you and I will gladly." Jane spoke and I raised an eyebrow.

"Really?" Grinning widely again, I leaned forward on my hands, looking her in the eye. "Without your gift, you would be nothing to the Volturi." I said and Jane slammed her hand on the table getting a few human's attention to us.

"Careful or they'll notice your red eyes and you'll be exposed to them." I said innocently, seeing the fury in Jane's eyes.

"If you weren't my brother's mate you would be dead already." Jane spoke and I smiled at her. "If you weren't Alec's sister I would have killed you already."

"Hmm, I see, you're not quite what you seem. You're trying to hide your true nature behind those eyes. Your innocence doesn't work for me, you're trying to criticize us and our nature, but maybe you're just as bad." Jane spoke glancing at my face and I wrinkled my nose.

"Was that your reason for coming to see me? If so, it would be nice to continue talking, but I have better things to do." I said looking at my watch and standing up but Jane grabbed my arm to stop me.

"I'm not ready, sit down." She spoke while glancing at the human's around us.

"You're afraid of how different we are, but one thing makes me curious." She looked into my eyes intently. "Your eyes are not all gold." She continued with a smirk and I cursed under my breath.

"Really? Last time I looked in the mirror, they're gold." I said with a smile and Jane stared blankly.

"They have that nauseating animal blood flowing in them, but also little human blood." Jane said with a raised eyebrow hitting the right one and I looked at her narrowing my eyes.

"Don't criticize my brother and our way when you're not completely on the Bambi diet, Alec will never leave the Volturi because of you. If he gets you to go to Italy you can be sure you'll feel pain if you try to hurt him in any way." She spoke and I sighed.

"What makes you think I'd ever set foot again in that castle? Aro only wants me as a weapon, as do the rest of you. Without your and Alec's gifts, you'd be nothing. Who was that one of Aro's guards..?" I answered her, glancing at her facial expressions that tightened.

"Stay away from my brother, he doesn't need you." Jane said and I giggled. "We completely agree on something, I'd be happy to stay away if he could stay away from me." I said leaning on my hand.

"I'm sure you know because you wouldn't be here otherwise, which is where we get to my question, because you've already questioned me enough, so I think it's my turn now." I continued and crossed my arms over my chest while leaning back on the bench.

"Why are you here?" I asked and Jane tilted her head a little. "We have a job to do." She answered shortly and I nodded.

"A mission like an army of newborns in Seattle?" I asked, eyeing the blonde girl.

"I don't know what army you're talking about." Jane said looking into my eyes. "I almost believe you." I grinned and Jane narrowed her eyes at me.

"What a coincidence that someone is creating an army of newborns in Seattle and you and Alec are close, I think Felix and Demetri are too. Because I don't think you came all the way here because of me." I explained and Jane shook her head.

"Maybe Alec wanted to see you face to face, and drag you to Italy by force." Jane said quickly and I shook my head.

"If anything happens to my family in battle and it turns out that you were aware of it and didn't prevent it. You can be sure that I will never forgive Alec." I explained to her in a quieter voice.

"Alec doesn't need your forgiveness." Jane replied, looking on in wonder as I shook my head laughing.

"Well then, wasn't this here, it was nice to meet and chat with you Jane." I said and got up to walk out of the pub. Stepping out the door, I looked at the sky full of stars. Oh, if only life were easy, I would do anything for it.
