𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢, Alec's words kept running through my head. I sat on the couch with Alice next to me and Edward was sitting further away holding the sleeping Bella in his arms.

The silence had already surrounded us for a couple of hours and we were waiting for the sun to set so we could leave. I could feel Edward's eyes on me and he must be reading my mind. "You are Alec's soulmate." Edward finally spoke and Alice turned her head as well.

"I am sorry." Edward continued and Alice took my hand, squeezing it.

"Didn't you see this coming?" I asked and Alice shook her head. "I didn't really see, I don't know why." She said looking down. "What was Aro thinking?" I asked out loud and Edward was quiet for a moment before answering.

"He realized you were using your gift on me and wondered what that would be and as Alec's soul mate he would want you to stay." Edward explained what he had seen in Aro's thoughts.

I spun my head thinking about the words. "No, I'm not staying, I really am not!" I shouted and Alice flinched a little. "They want me as a weapon so they can use me in their power struggles." I said and Edward gave a small smile. Before he could say anything, footsteps approached.

The blonde guard walked towards us with Felix behind him, he glanced at each of us and stopped. "You will be free to leave soon, but Aro wants to see you." He spoke looking at me and I glanced at Alice and Edward who nodded.

Standing up and following the blonde towards the throne room, I had thoughts in my mind that I'm going to say I won't have to stay. He flashed me a grin on his face and oh how I wished I could wipe it off his face. He stopped and opened the door, nodding at me. I stepped inside and there were only three Volturi kings left.

Aro turned around and a smile appeared on his face. Taking steps towards me and meeting halfway, he asked for my hand, which I held out. I watched his close his eyes and after a moment open them. "I see Adeline." He started to speak and quickly glanced at the others behind him. "What a loss, your gift is incredible and powerful." He spoke, raising his hand to his chin.

"Are you sure about your decision?"

"After all, you are Alec's soul mate." I looked up at Aro and nodded. "I've made my decision and I'm not going to stay, I want to be with my family and I'm not going to leave them." I said and Aro nodded.

Turning around I walked towards the door which the blonde quickly opened, he looked behind me towards Aro and closed the door with a nod. I stopped for a moment and saw Alec standing further away, staring at me and the Volturi guard.

"Demetri leave us I will bring her to the others." Alec spoke looking at this Demetri who nodded and started walking away.

I stared nervously at his red eyes that wandered over my body, he took steps closer and I bolted towards the wall.

"Why are you going further away from me?" He asked, eyeing my steps that I took towards the wall. "I don't want you near me, I know you're a scary witch twin that takes senses away in an instant. Carlisle has told." I said quietly but he snapped his eyes at me as soon as he heard the word scary witch.

I saw his face move slightly and he stared at me blankly. "Why don't you want to stay?" Alec asked and I raised an eyebrow. "Why? Because I'd be used as a weapon, and I'm certainly not a weapon to be used against other vampires on your vampire killing sprees. Your way." I explained and pointed to his eyes.

He stared silently without saying anything and glanced down. "Our way is to uphold vampire law." He replied and I nodded my head. "Bye Alec, I'm going back to my family."

I started walking and Alec followed me. Leading the way to the others we were both silent. "Alec." Jane's voice came from behind us and she walked towards us. "I'll continue here, Aro wants to see you." She said and Alec, with a nod, sped off.

I took steps but felt Jane grab my hand and spin me around. "I don't know what game you're playing with my brother, but he doesn't need that in his life. You're criticizing the way we live and..." Before she could finish I took her hand off mine and interrupted.

"I didn't criticize, I just told my opinion, our ways are different and I'm not going to leave my family and I know that Alec won't leave all this because of me." I said and Jane stared into my eyes silently. I turned my back and started to walk away.

I followed the speech and soon I arrived at Edward, Alice and Bella who had woken up. Edward looked at me and I knew he was reading my mind what had happened. 'Don't worry I'm fine.' I said in my mind and he nodded. Demetri and Felix led us to the doors and soon we were on our way back to Forks.

The others had taken care of our stuff back in Forks and when I got back I went straight to my room. My bags were on my bed and I started unpacking them to get my thoughts elsewhere. After a while I heard a knock on the door and I smelled a human behind my door.

"Bella." I said after opening the door and she stood there nervously twirling her fingers. "Will you come downstairs, the others are there. We will vote." She said and I nodded closing the door behind me.

I followed her downstairs where the others were already standing ready.

I heard them talking and they were talking about me and Alec. I let out a deep sigh and knew where this was going to lead. "Adeline." Carlisle said and I smiled at him. "I think we need to talk."

"What do we have to talk about?" I asked him crossing my arms over my chest. "You know what." Edward said and I turned my head. "Don't get involved in this okay?" I said and he rolled his head.

"What you said to Alec and Aro, they're coming for you Alec wants you there especially." Edward continued and I shaked my head.

"Edward is right, Aro knows your gift and you are Alec's mate they want you there." Carlisle said and I shook my head again. "Then they get to try, but they know they won't succeed." I said and silence followed us.

I walked to the balcony and looked at the stars that were in the sky. I smiled to myself and memories of my life as a human came to mind. 1435 I was only sixteen years old and I met a man I fell in love with, he was handsome, polite and treated me like a princess. He was wealthy and ambitious. My father was ready to marry me to him.

I often used to go out to look at the stars and he would dance with me by the river. I had a future ahead of me.
