"Kirou."
Looking up from where he was sorting through case files, the man tilted his head. "What's up, Eraser?"
"Do you have a teaching license?" The Underground Hero's face was a seemingly blank mask, but Kirou could see the desperation underneath. He blinked.
"Uh, yeah. Got it a few years ago with my degree. Why?"
"Oh thank god."
"Shouta, what's going on?" If Kirou had had any sleep in the last 48 hours, he would have caught on earlier, but hey, he was having a hard enough time concentrating on his work as it was. Adding Shouta's cryptic statements was too much.
"Nedzu just hired an idiot for the upcoming school year. He doesn't even have any teaching qualifications." Sitting down next to Kirou, Shouta slumped onto the table. He, too, hadn't slept in the last two days.
They had been coworkers ever since Kirou had graduated, about seven years ago now, and were paired together due to their compatible fighting styles. But that also meant that they were stuck doing menial paperwork together.
"Oh damn, who?" Kirou was genuinely surprised. Nedzu always struck him as someone who wouldn't risk the quality of his school for anything. Apparently not.
Shouta let out a world-weary sigh. "Fucking All Might."
"What." He hadn't expected that. "Isn't his whole thing, like, punching and smiling? What could he teach?"
"I don't even know, but apparently enough for Nedzu to put him as the first-year's practical Heroics teacher." The man somehow melted further onto the table, displacing papers as he did.
"Shit, man." Kirou caught a paper about to slide onto the floor. It was the list of properties a criminal organization owned. "That'll suck."
Shouta rolled his head over to look at the younger man. "Luckily, I managed to convince him to hire a co-teacher to help All Might." He grinned, somehow showing all his teeth. "I get to pick who."
Now, Kirou wasn't an idiot. He could do some pretty impressive detective work. But again, he was sleep deprived, so connecting the dots took a while longer than usual.
Realization smacked him over the head like an over enthusiastic mugger.
"No. No, Shouta, you know I hate teenagers."
"Okay?"
"... damn, you have a point, there." Kirou sighed and joined Shouta in laying on the table. If anybody walked into the room, they would see two fully adult men talking to each other with half a foot of space between their faces.
Shouta grunted.
"Is he really an idiot?"
"Yes."
Eyes closing, Kirou made his decision. "Fuck it. Yeah, okay, it'll put my Quirk Theory degree in good use, at least."
"Good."
"... you already told Nedzu I'd accepted, didn't you."
"Yup."
"Damn you, Shouta."
