The next few days were like molasses. Slow, sluggish, not enjoyable. That sounded like and Apples to Apples green card. The winner was the “hospital” red card. “Time to go.” My mom came in and told me.
I jumped out of bed like a bunny and didn’t sit down again until we were in the car. We got everything sorted out and left. Sitting in the passenger seat, I smiled, and turned on the radio for the whole way home. School was the next day. “Sweetie, you just got out of being in the hospital for three weeks. Are you sure you’re ready to go back to school so quickly?”
“Yes. I am so ready. I survived being struck by lightning I’m sure I can survive a day of school.” I say. And it’s true.
“If you say so, but if you feel anything, even if it’s nothing, call me and I’ll come get you.” She told me.
“Okay. I will.” I told her.
I sit in my usual seat and no one says anything about it, it’s my seat again I guess. Still no one talks to me except Adam, probably too afraid to break habit.
I go to Adam’s after school and he helps me then I help him. I go straight home after that because my mom is still worrying about me.
