It was yet another school day, and over in Charlie Brown's class, Miss Donovan made a formal announcement.

"Aw, not a speech!"

Miss Donovan called Franklin to the front.

"Yes, Miss Donovan." Said Franklin as he walked up to the front of the class.

"As some of you may well be aware, Sparkyville will be celebrating its centenary soon." Franklin announced.

"Centenary, what's that?" asked Charlie Brown.

"For anyone unaware," Franklin said. "a centenary is someone's, or something's, one hundredth birthday."

"One hundredth birthday?! Wow!" Charlie Brown exclaimed.

"As I was saying," continued Franklin. "I have been suggesting we throw a fete of some sort to celebrate this auspicious occasion."

"What's so suspicious about a centenary?" asked Charlie Brown.

"Auspicious, Charlie Brown." Said Heather. "It means giving a sign of success."

"Oh. Auspicious." Charlie Brown said.

"That's right. It's auspicious because, as Franklin had just said, it's a centenary, Charlie Brown." Heather explained in full.

Once it was lunch time, Charlie Brown was having lunch on his lonesome. He was having his usual; a peanut butter sandwich.

"One hundred years has gone by for our humble town. What exactly has Franklin been planning?"

As Charlie Brown was pondering, Linus walked over with Janice.

"Hey, Charlie Brown." Said Linus.

"Oh. Hey, Linus. Hey, Janice."

"What exactly are you thinking about, Charlie Brown?" asked Janice.

"You did hear about Sparkyville's centenary, didn't you?" asked Charlie Brown.

"Yes. Miss Othmar announced it in our class." Said Linus.

"Franklin is planning a fete to celebrate." Charlie Brown added.

"Hmm.... Come to our booth later." Janice said.

"Good idea, Janice." Charlie Brown decided.

As Linus and Janice walked off, it started to rain.

"Good grief!" sighed Charlie Brown.

Then, Charlie Brown had a neat idea.

"Well, this school could do with a cafeteria in case of wet weather like this. If Franklin is planning a fete." He thought.

Charlie Brown suddenly remembered the school fair that was thrown for Janice's fundraiser.

"That's it! Charlie Brown, you're not such a blockhead after all!" he said to himself.

That afternoon, Charlie Brown walked over to Linus' Psychiatry Booth, and there were Linus and Janice.

"Linus. Janice." Charlie Brown said.

"So what have you been thinking about, Charlie Brown?" asked Janice.

"Well, we did have some rain shortly before lunch was finished, and I thought that maybe our school could do with a cafeteria to shelter us in case of rain." Charlie Brown said.

"Well, I guess you're right, Charlie Brown." Said Linus. "A cafeteria would do nicely, also in the case of those who may not bring their own lunch, but buy some at school."

"In addition, Janice, do you remember your fundraiser and how I suggested a school fair?" Charlie Brown asked.

"Yes, Charlie Brown?" asked Janice.
