Kanae had always kept it all by himself for the past five years. He's secretly inlove with his best friend and streaming partner Kuzuha. He'd been trying to give him hints and even tried to low-key flirts with him on stream with the help of their supportive fans who only wished nothing but for their oshis' happiness. Even so, Kuzuha didn't really look nor even consider liking someone seriously because all he ever thinks about every single day is to play games while earning stacks of cash. It's killing two birds with one stone--he gets to play and enjoy his hobby while earning money.

There's nothing wrong with Kuzuha's mindset and Kanae loved him for that, too. At first, Kanae really liked Kuzuha as a streamer and a gamer. He admired his skills and his effortless charismatic behavior of being funny, hilarious and entertaining in one go.

It is given that Kuzuha is loved by many, both by the other nijisanji livers and his viewers. So, Kanae would normally be interested in him too. He'd never thought he'd be "that" interested and invested towards Kuzuha as time goes by.

On their 5th anniversary as a unit namely, ChroNoir, Kanae had the urge to completely confess to Kuzuha. However, his manager (who probably already knows what is going on with Kanae) advised him not to do it on their 5th anniversary celebratory day but instead on the following days to not spoil the successful day. Kanae understood that his manager was only concerned for him and for Kuzuha's career. They both knew that Kuzuha's mind thinks randomly and is always unpredictable. So, Kanae held back and decided to set his confession for another time.

After the anniversary, things got busier and their schedules never aligned--prompting Kanae to never be able to set perfect date for his confession. Also, Kanae is not the type to calm down when it comes to Kuzuha. He is always known to be the calm type but a little bit psychopathic on stream yet people loved him for that.

But with Kuzuha around, either on or off stream, he couldn't keep his cool for so long. His mind would go haywire. He sometimes openly becomes possessive or dominant over Kuzuha and wouldn't even mind what other livers would say.

They're all scared of Kanae-san.

He does whatever he wants and nobody would complain about it. That includes gatekeeping Kuzuha to other livers when he feels jealous and possessive.

Everything is going smoothly not until a new wave or group debuted in their company. There was a specific liver that caught Kuzuha's attention to the point of declaring it publicly that he likes him. The liver's name was Usami Ritto.

Kanae could still hear Kuzuha's determined voice during that time when the white-haired liver genuinely said, watching Usami's debut video, "I like him~"

Even during one of their Chronoir program, Kanae went along with Kuzuha's one-sided love roleplay with Usami. He even acted as the best wing man for Kuzuha and Usami the entire show. But looking back at it, Kanae barely remembered what happened the entire show nor does he keeps fragments of their conversation that day. Thinking deeply, Kanae missed what Kuzuha had said.

"Oi-! You're not listening to me at all, aren't you?" Kuzuha sulked. He'd been asking Kanae if he'd play LOL (League of Legends) with him later.

Kuzuha's grin turned wider as he added, "Usami's playing with us later, too"

Kanae hates how Kuzuha sounds so excited when he talks about Usami and them playing LOL together.

Kuzuha giggled and shook his head in disbelief, "That guy. Playing LOL on stream right after he just debuted. Is he gonna be okay? So hilarious ahaha-!"
