Mc Pov's

I make my way through the hospital corridors. The sterile scent of the hospital hits me as I make my way through the long, white corridors. Each step amplifies the anxiety building within me. At the reception desk, I inquire about Jake Anderson. The receptionist directs me to Room 203 on the second floor.

The elevator journey feels like an eternity, with thoughts racing through my mind—concerns about Richy and Jake's condition, the mysterious connection between him and Alan, and the looming sense of danger. As the doors open on the second floor, I locate Room 203.

Voices emanate from inside. Dan and Jessy are by Jake's bedside, speaking in hushed tones. Relief washes over me at the sight of Jake alive and unconscious. I am forgetting how to breathe when I see him. Finally, he has a face; finally, I see him.

I knock on the door, prompting Dan to look up with widened eyes. Jessy turns to see me, emotions flickering across her face—relief, confusion, and a hint of suspicion.

"Mc!" Dan exclaims, rising from his chair to envelop me in a tight hug.

"I got here as fast as I could," I reply, reciprocating the hug. "What's happening? And how are Hannah and Richy?"

Dan guides me to a corner where we can talk privately. "Hannah is with Alan. He insisted on taking her to a safer location until things settled down."

"Settle down? What's happening, Dan? Why is the FBI involved, and why does Alan seem to know so much?" I fire off my questions, frustration and worry evident in my voice.

Dan takes a deep breath and says, "It's complicated. Alan is keeping a lot of details to himself, but he assures us that Jake is not our enemy. In fact, he helped save Richy and Hannah."

I glance back at Jake, and I see Jessy approaching us, and the tension in the room becomes palpable.

"Mc, I know you and Jake have a history, but you need to understand that things are different now," Jessy says cautiously.

"I don't need anyone to tell me how to feel or what to do," I reply, my emotions bubbling to the surface. "I just want to know the truth, and I want all of us to be safe."

Dan places a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "We're all in this together, Mc. We'll get through it, but it won't be easy." I take a deep breath, feeling a mixture of determination and vulnerability. "I understand that, Dan," I say, my voice steady. "But we can't ignore the past either. We need to confront it head-on if we want to ensure our safety and move forward."

Jessy nods in agreement, her eyes filled with understanding. "You're right, Mc," she says softly. "We'll face whatever comes our way as a team, supporting each other every step of the way."

Dan looks at Jake and at me, and he slightly nods toward him. "Let's go, Jessy, to grab something to eat for all. I suppose you are all hungry, beside the Richy boy obviously, as he is knocked out." Dan says this as he leads Jess out of the room. I hear the gasp from Jess as she is trying to admonish him. I am supresing a laugh, and I can't help but wonder how Dan manages to always be on the bad side of Jessy. I hear a groan behind me, and I turn around fast just in time to see Jake trying to get up from the bed. I rush towards him to prevent him from hurting himself. As I put my hands on top of his shoulders, he snaps his head towards me as if startled. When he looks at me, I feel like all the air from my lungs is getting sucked out—the same eyes as in my dreams, such a beautiful, rare blue color. I can't help but get lost in their mesmerizing depths. Before I realize it, I'm hugging him, feeling like I'm home when his arms wrap around my body. It's a feeling I never want to let go of, and suddenly, I start to cry. All the worries and all the stress are finally taking a toll on me, and I know that there's also happiness and relief that he's here with me in the end.

"Shh, I'm here, and I'm okay, Angel. I am so sorry that I made you worried. Please don't cry; you know I can't stand it when you are crying." Hearing his voice for the first time washes over me like a wave of comfort, easing the tension in my body. His words reassure me that everything will be alright, and I find solace in his presence. As I bury my face in his chest, I can't help but feel grateful for his support. I feel like I am finally home.

"You kept your promise," I said softly to him, and when I lifted my head, I was staring into his beautiful blue eyes. The intensity with which he is staring at me has me spellbound. Slowly, he is bending his head towards mine. I hear him whispering my name as he captures my lips in a kiss. I feel thousands of butterflies and sparks when I feel his lips on mine.

"Oh my God, my eyes," I hear somebody saying. I jump away from Jake, and I feel all my face red from being caught in the act. I look at Jake, and he looks slightly annoyed, but when he stares at me, he winks and then smirks at me, which makes me more flabbergasted and also makes me have the desire to strangle him. When I turn around to see who it is, I am shocked to see who it is.
