chapter 6

Hope pov

I heard my phone start to ring as I covered my head with the blanket waiting for it to stop but a few seconds later I got tired of it so I grabbed my phone and showed my mom's name so I answered.

"Hi mom" I said in my raspy voice as I cleared my throat.

"Sorry, did I wake you?" my mom said.

"No it's fine" I said as I sat up rubbing my eyes "what's up?" I asked.

"Nothing just wanted to see how college life is"

"It's okay I got Josie as my roommate" I said slightly rolling my eyes.

"Oh Josie is a sweet girl, she's nice," my mom said as I got out of bed and I put her on speaker. "Really mom" I said as I started to change my clothes.

"What I still can't see why you don't like her, she's a lovely lady" my mom and I sigh. "Mom, can you stop praising Josie?" I asked as I finished putting my clothes on.

"Okay okay but how are your classes?" My mom asked.

"Okay it's not too bad but my professor said it will get harder in a few weeks or so" I said as my mom hummed slightly.

"Oh that shouldn't be too bad but are you seeing anyone?" I roll my eyes at the question "no I'm not and I'm not lying" I said as I lay down on my bed.

"Whatever but you haven't dated anyone since Landon" my mom said and I rolled my eyes again but I still don't know why I even dated him.

"Hope!" My door slam open making me jump as I see Cleo "are you fucking crazy!" I yelled at her as I lay back down and Cleo jumped on my bed leaving my door open but I didn't care.

"Oh is this a bad time?" my mom asked.

"Hi Hayley," Cleo said.

"Hi Cleo, how have you been?" My mom asked and they started to talk back and forth. I didn't care. I got up and went out of my room.

I went to the bathroom as I started to brush my teeth. After I was done I grabbed a water bottle as I started to drink it. I heard a door open. I turn to see Josie rubbing her eyes. I chuckled "well good morning to you sunshine" I said as she looked at me then smiled.

"Good morning grumpy" she said and went to the bathroom and started to brush her teeth Cleo came out of the room with my phone handing it to me "your mom said bye and love you" Cleo said and I nodded.

"okay" I quickly sent my mom a "love you too" text "so you doing something today?" Cleo asked and I shook my head then a smile came on her lips with a look and oh did I know that look.

"Whatever it is no" I said as I was about to drink my water when Cleo took it away from me.

"Oh please I want someone to go with me as I get my nails done" Cleo said but I shook my head crossing my arms "no" I said.

"I'll get you some food or something you want" Cleo said begging but I shook my head again.

"I'll pay for all of it" Cleo said with a pout and I rolled my eyes. I look behind her to see Josie finish brushing her teeth and she runs her fingers through her hair.

I look back at Cleo still seeing her stupid pout on and I sigh "fine fine how much for mine?" I asked.

"47 I think" Cleo said and I laughed "no I'm broke plus how much all together cuz I know you don't have that much money" I said and she rolled her eyes.

"Rude but 94" she whispered. "See and why me huh?" I asked.

"Just a girls day plus I may or may not only have money for mine" she said and I rolled my eyes.

"Of course you do-"

"I'll pay for yours" Josie cut me off and me and Cleo looked at her "which one?" Cleo asked. "I'll pay for Hope" Josie said as she leaned on the door frame with a slight smile.

"And what do you want in return?" I asked as I saw Josie think about it.

"I want head rubs but also back scratches" she said and I gave her a look "please grumpy" she continued with a pout and I rolled my eyes.

"Fine fine but that's it got it" I said pointing my finger at her and she chuckles smiling "of course grumpy"

"What color since you're paying for it?" Cleo asked and Josie shrugged "it's Hope's choice I don't care" she said.

"Just think I don't know what to get but nothing stupid looking" I said and Josie started to think about it "red round nails" she said and I nodded.

That was weirdly specific but whatever she's paying for it

Josie went to her room and came out a minute later with her wallet and handed me a 50 "here" she said and I grabbed the money.

"You don't have to get what I want, you can get whatever you want I don't care," she said as I went to put on my shoes. "It's whatever I don't know what to get anyways," I said and she nodded.

"Come on" Cleo said and I rolled my eyes "okay okay damn" I mumbled "I'm going to the car" Cleo said and she left the room as I tied my shoes.

"You think red nails would look good?" I asked and she nodded as we made eye contact. "Very" she said as we looked at each other for a little while I quickly snapped out of it and I stood up and walked past her "don't be stupid" I said as I opened the door.

"Of course grumpy" she said and I rolled my eyes "whatever sunshine" I whisper closing the door behind me.
