I am excited to share my first book, "The Night of Street 49th." I worked very hard on this story and hope you enjoy reading it. As a new writer, it was an adventure to create this tale. This book is a labor of love, and I poured my heart into crafting a tale that I hope will captivate and intrigue you.
All the characters are imaginary and my first language is not English.
Warning: This book covers murder, suspense, thriller and more.
Thanks a lot for reading. Happy reading & enjoy the time : )
In the calm town of Luna Haven, there's a cozy street named Crescent Avenue. Here, at 23 Crescent Avenue, you'll find the center of the town—the Midnight Whispers Café. It's a warm and inviting place, like a storyteller waiting to share secrets from Luna Haven's old streets.
Olivia, a hardworking 20-year-old, spent her days at Whispers Café in Luna Haven. She dreamed of opening her own café one day. Each day, she wiped tables and made coffee, believing it brought her closer to that dream. One night, everything changed. Secrets in Luna Haven's streets unfolded, turning Olivia's world upside down.
Olivia stood behind the counter, gently touching a coffee mug. She looked at the customers outside, hearing their laughter. A small smile appeared as she imagined having her own café. She quietly said the name she liked for it, a secret shared only with the carefully arranged coffee cups.
"Oh, hello, Sir. Welcome to the Whispers Café. What would you like to order?"
"Thank you! Can I get a Macchiato, a Flat White, and chocolate muffins?"
"Sure, anything else?"
"No, nothing else."
"Okay, Sir, give us 10 mins; your order will be ready soon."
After 10 mins
"Here's your order, Sir. Thanks for coming."
After a few hours, an unknown lady enters the café. It was closing time, and Olivia was quite busy.
"Oh, hello, ma'am, we are extremely sorry. We'll not be able to serve you this time as we are closing. Oh my gosh, you're bleeding. What happened to you?"
As Olivia got closer to the injured lady, her eyes widened with shock. She nervously bit her lower lip, showing she was worried. She hesitated for a moment before quickly getting the first-aid box. Her hands shook a bit as she tried to understand how urgent the situation was.
The lady was badly injured, extremely distressed, trembling, and unable to speak properly. Her leg was injured, blood was flowing quite heavily, and imprints of bloodied feet were left on the café floor.
"He will be killed; please help him; please save his life. I'm begging you, please save him."
"What are you talking about? Who will be killed? Who's killing to whom? And what happened to you? How did you get injured? It seems like you're bleeding a lot. Wait, I will call an ambulance."
"No, don't. Don't call the ambulance. We don't have that much time, try to understand. You have to save him. I'm begging you for help; please save him."
"But you're bleeding; your life is also in danger. I can't leave you like this. I have to call an ambulance."
"Please understand that saving his life is more crucial, and you must save his life. Don't delay; please go and save him."
"Alright, alright. I am going, but I will leave the first-aid box with you. You try to stop your bleeding. But where do I need to go? Where is that person?"
"Street 49th"
"What? What did you just say? Street 49th, again, it's Street 49th."
"Yes, please don't delay and go."
When the lady mentioned Street 49th, Olivia's eyes widened, and she held the counter's edge. Hearing this name, Olivia gets extremely distressed. Her knuckles turned white, and she looked around as if she never wanted to hear this name again. But perhaps fate had a different plan. However, upon seeing the condition of that unknown lady and hearing her words, she rushes towards Street 49th.
Leaving the café, Olivia ran fast, her footsteps echoing in the empty streets. The distant streetlights flickered as she followed the winding paths to Street 49th. Her steps showed urgency, and her heart pounded, creating tension and anticipation.
When Olivia was running towards 49th Street, a thousand questions were flooding her mind simultaneously. Nevertheless, she continued sprinting in the direction of Street 49th.
Approaching Street 49th, Luna Haven's familiar sounds disappeared, and an eerie silence took over. Olivia's steps slowed, and she looked around, feeling an odd tension in the air. Shadows on the cobblestone streets played tricks, making Street 49th seem mysterious.
"Hey, is anyone here? Can someone hear me? Please reply."
After walking a few steps, she let out a scream that echoed through the entire place as if hell itself had opened up.
"You... what are you doing here? And what are you doing? Have you gone mad? Do you even know what you've done?"
After two hours in the hospital.
"Where's Olivia? Where's Olivia, and how's she?"
"Oh wait, wait, miss, you can't enter the room; please stay out."
"Who are you, and why are you stopping me from entering?"
"I am Mike Tunnel, a police officer, and I have the authority to prevent you from entering a restricted area. And I also want to know who you are and why you are entering without permission."
When Officer Mike Tunnel tried to stop Amelia from entering the room, she stood tall, looked him in the eyes, and said,
"I don't need permission to see her."
Her voice was strong, and her eyes showed determination and concern for Olivia.
"Oh really, miss, may I know why?"
"Hello, Mr. Mike; I'm Lisa, Olivia's Doctor. I'm treating Olivia."
"Doctor, how's my sister? Is she okay? What's her condition now? "
"Is Olivia your sister? For now, there's no danger, but she hasn't regained consciousness yet. Perhaps she has experienced some form of trauma or witnessed something she never expected."
"I received a call from a man, possibly from the police department. He informed me about Olivia's condition."
"So, you are Amy. Your number was on speed dial in Olivia's phone, and I made the call. I'm Officer Mike Tunnel, and I am leading this case."
"Yes, I'm Amelia Harper; Olivia calls me Amy. And will you explain to me what's going on? What happened with Olivia that she's currently hospitalized?"
"We are also trying to find out. Amelia, it's a strange matter, but Olivia is both a main witness and a main suspect in this case."
"Case? What case are you talking about?"
"I am talking about murders."
"Which murders? I don't understand anything. Can you explain properly?"
"Do you know where your sister was?"
"Whispers Café, Olivia works there."
"Is it the same Whispers Café on Crescent Avenue?"
"Yes, that Café."
"Now that's strange; why was Olivia so far away and alone?"
"What does 'far away' mean to you?"
"Your sister was found unconscious on Street 49th."
