Wei Wuxian, his brother, and the rest of the freshmen followed Lan Xichen to the dorm building, where they went up a flight of stairs to the top floor. There, in the entrance of the hallway, taped on the wall was a list of which rooms everyone was in and who they were roomed with.
"Alright, everyone find your rooms. Be situated and back down at the bottom floor in 20 minutes."
Wei Wuxian pushed to the front of the freshmen to go look at where he was roomed. It was unsurprising that he and Jiang Cheng were roommates. He was satisfied with that. They walked down to room 207, where they grabbed their room keys and opened it.
The dorms were pretty standard. Twin bed, a desk and a dresser each. Wei Wuxian sighed and set all his stuff down, then flopped on the mattress. "I call this side," he said, pointing a single tired arm toward the ceiling, then flopping it back down.
"Are you even gonna make your bed?" Jiang Cheng said, eyeing him from the other side of the room, where he was unpacking and had started to put the sheets on his mattress.
"Later," Wei Wuxian grumbled. "I got no sleep last night and I am exhausted."
"What were you up doing?"
"Crying," Wei Wuxian said seriously. Jiang Cheng gave him a look and continued to make his bed. "Anyway, I hope Yanli is doing okay."
"Me too," Jiang Cheng said. "I dunno how she's faring over there. Maybe she's made some girl friends." There was suddenly a knock at the door, and Wei Wuxian shot up and pranced to the door. Jiang Cheng: "Wow, what happened to you being tired?"
Wei Wuxian opened the door to find a kid wearing an olive green jacket. He had a mellow look to his face and the innocent-er look of a freshman. Wei Wuxian raised his eyebrow. "What's up?"
"Uh, hi!" The kid said. "I'm Nie Huaisang. Me and my roommate are across from you, so I just- you know, wanted to introduce myself. Also I'm scared because apparently my roommate is a senior. Jin Zixuan, I think his name is?"
"Well, that's nice of you. Me and my brother, Jiang Cheng, are both juniors. We don't know anyone, though. I'm Wei Wuxian, by the way."
"It's nice to meet you." A slight silence followed. "Well, uh, I just wanted to say hi."
Jiang Cheng walked up to the doorway, where he looked down at Nie Huaisang. "Well you said hi, so now shouldn't you be unpacking? We've only got 15 minutes left."
Nie Huaisang looked at Jiang Cheng's scowl and gulped. "You're right. I'll leave you guys to it." He scurried off to his own room.
Wei Wuxian turned to his brother. "Seriously, dude? At least pretend to like the freshmen."
He crossed his arms. "I didn't know what he was doing here. Why'd he just go up to us anyway?"
"To be friendly?? Something that you wouldn't know how to do." Jiang Cheng ignored him and went back to making his bed. "Anyway, I'll unpack later tonight. I'm going to go explore."
"Uh, explore where?"
"Campus."
"UHM, no," Jiang Cheng said. "You're going to get into so much trouble."
"And I don't care," Wei Wuxian said in a sing-song voice. "I'm just here to have fun, and get as close to being expelled as I can without actually being expelled. For Yanli's sake, of course. Also I don't feel like having to deal with Madame Yu if I do manage to get expelled."
"That's your plan? Have fun with that I guess..."
"Yep. You can go have fun mooning over Lan Xichen." Wei Wuxian frolicked towards the door and left, closing the door behind Jiang Cheng's enraged objections of "I am NOT mooning over him!"
