quick heads up, in this au, Mari did not die from falling down the stairs.
Sunny and Basil (after Mari asked them to-) called an ambulance and while there they accidentally found the cause of Mari's bad knee.
She is all fixed up, Hero has a panic attack, and Sunny worries over Mari while he and Kel simp for eachother.
Don't worry about Hero, he and Mari are together while Basil is pan/ace and Aubrey is making heart-eyes at a certain someone.
(That certain someone isn't Basil tho.)
Ahem!

Yeah, you're stuck with me for now, and then you'll be on your merry way you little bitch.
Speaking of little people, Sunny had just woken up from his nightmare when he realized something.
"Oh sh!t. I think that I'm in Kel's shirt.
A bang on the window was heard.
A week ago, at a sleep over with Kel, Kel had left his shirt in Sunny's bedroom.
Since then, Sunny had started wearing it as a pajama shirt because #it's not gay if it's with the homies!
For a bit, he forgot he wasn't in his old room anymore, he was in Mari's.
A slightly clearer knock was heard from Sunny's window.
He and Mari had moved-
So, some explaining.
Basically, their father cheated on theirs mother with a young secretary from work.
He and their mom divorced after Kel and Hero's parents found out and told Mari and Sunny's mom.
Nah I'm joking.
...
They moved around the house a bit, Mari gaining their ex-dads room, and Sunny moved to Mari's room, which was within arms reach of the Oak tree in their backyard.
(Sometimes they swore they saw a lab coat on it.)
Their parents had separate rooms while their divorce was being finalized, so once their father moved out the space was clear.
Nothing horrible happened between them, they just sort of... fell out of love.
In any case, Sunny walked up to his window and pulled open the blinds, putting an arm in front of his eyes as the sun shone brightly.
"Sunshine!" A familiar voice exclaimed
Sunny looked at the ground, but couldn't see his cru- best friend.
Then, he heard the voice again.
"Dude! Can I come inside?" The voice he absolutely did not find extremely comforting and he definitely did not absolutely love it.
Sunny nodded his head, but then remembered that he may not be able to see him, so he just responded with "Yes."
Before he could hear an answer, something jumped out of the tree towards him!
