Chapter 18

Dante's pov

"What's wrong?! Is she ok?! What happened?!" I start freaking out immediately. "Don't pretend like you care! You freaked her out to much. She's fine but I'm not letting you near her anymore. Your not good for her" Aphrodite says and Antonio picks up Athena. He walks out with Athena.

"She is done working for you Dante" Aphrodite says. "No please! I didn't want to let them take her! Marco said she was planning against me! He said she was in the French mafia and he had proof! I didn't know he was lying! I didn't know it was fake!" I say starting to cry.

"Please Aphrodite.. don't take her away.." I beg her not to do this. "I'll give her the choice" she says. "Aphrodite please tell her I'm sorry. Please just explain what happened. I'll go get rid of her parents" I say, wiping my tears. I go downstairs and See Athena's parents sitting on my couch.

"Leave. Your not welcome here anymore" I say hiding the fact I was crying. "Give us our daughter and we will leave" her dad says and I roll my eyes. "Your not taking my fiancé away from me" I say just trying to get them out.

"She's not marrying you! She would never marry someone so fucked up!" Her mom yells at me. "Ask her when she wakes up" I say not thinking. We aren't engaged I just fucked up. "Fine we will wait then" her mom says and I walk upstairs to her room. "She's awake" Aphrodite tells me not letting me go in.

"I just told her parents that we are engaged.. and they want to hear it from her.." I tell Aphrodite looking down. "Athena will know what to say when they ask. Bring them up" she says and walks into Athena's room. I go downstairs and tell her parents to come up. I lead them to Athena's room and see Athena sitting up in bed.

"Still fat I see. God I can't believe your my kid" Athena's mom says when she sees Athena. "Ask her" I say wanting them to leave. "Athena are you engaged to this man?" Her dad asks her. "Yes sir I am" she said. "I'm disappointed in you Athena. How dare you marry the enemy!" Her mom yells and I roll my eyes.

"Well you got your confirmation so leave!" I yell at her parents. I'm sick of them being in my house. They start mumble as they walk out. "Why do call your dad sir?" I ask Athena. "He would beat me if I didn't call him sir" she mumbles.

"Can I talk to you.. alone" I ask and she nods. Everyone leaves the room and I sit on the edge of her bed. "I didn't know your parents were such horrible people. My brother told you you were in the French mafia and he had proof. I didn't notice it was fake till now. I'm sorry and I really hope you can forgive me" I say look at the floor.

I feel her moving around and I look up at her. Suddenly she kisses me. "I will always forgive you" she says smiling. I look at all the scars on her body. They make me feel so bad. I couldn't be there to protect her.

"What's wrong?" She asks. I didn't realise I was frowning till she wasn't smiling anymore. "Nothing. I promise" I tell her, smiling. "Your brother is Marco right?" She asks me. "Yeah you met him at the ball" I tell her and she nods.

Back to Athena's pov

"I know you just went through a lot but I have a business meeting in 2 hours and I was wondering if you would go with me?" Dante says. "Of course I'll go!" I say, excited. "I assume you have something for me to wear" I say and he nods, walking out of my room.

He comes back in with the outfit and shoes I have to wear. "I know it's not your style but you don't own black and you can't wear bright Color's at a mafia meeting" he explains while handing me the outfit and shoes.

"Meet me downstairs in an hour" He tells me and I nod. He walks out and I put on the outfit and shoes.

1 hour later

I go downstairs and see Dante staring at his phone by the door. I start walking slower as I look him up and down.

(Dante's outfit)

"Are you done checking me out?" Dante asks. I look up and see him smirking. I roll my eyes at him. "I wasn't checking you out. I was judging you" I say, smiling. He looks of me, offended.

"And to think I was going to tell you that you look beautiful" he says grabbing my hand. We go outside and get into the car that's waiting for us.

1 hour later

Dante gets out of the car and quickly runs to my side. He opens the door for me and helps me get out. "Oh wow such a gentleman" I say, laughing. "I always am when it comes to you" he says, smiling.

We walk into the building holding hands. When we walk into the meeting room everyone turns to us. Dante doesn't let go of my hand. Instead he walks over to the head of the table and sits down, pulling me to sit on his lap.

I hear people whispering. "Who is she?" "Why was she holding hands with him?" "Why is she sitting on his lap?" "She's probably one of his whores" "I heard she's French" people whisper around me.

"Silence!" Dante yells making me turn my head to him. I immediately slap him across the face. "Sorry" Dante mumbles, giving me a quick kiss. I turn back to see everyone looking at me like I'm insane.

"Why are you all staring at me like I murdered someone?" I ask, making Dante laugh. "Athena, you just slapped me" he says and I turn to him. "So? You yelled in my fucking ear, you deserved it" I say.

"Athena, when people slap me, I kill them" he says, smiling. "You love me to much to kill me" I say, smiling back. "You got that right" He says, kissing me, again. "Sir, who is she?" someone asks and I turn to look at them.

"Not that it's any of your fucking business but I'm his fucking girlfriend" I say, annoyed. "He doesn't do girlfriends" the guy says. "She is my girlfriend so shut up" Dante says, also getting annoyed.
