Chapter 151
Three days later, Long Feng and the others were resting after a tiring battle with a horde of striped tigers.
"There are only two days left for the one week period to end." Yan Jian spoke after refilling his inner energy.
"I am ranked in the ninth place. I guess my current ranking is sufficient for me to pass this test." Long Feng spoke after glancing at his ranking.
"All four of us are in the top twenty ranking." Yan Jian added.
"Then let's stop hunting beasts. Those are boring. Let's go look for some Yin ghost!" Hua Liuli spoke with an excited look in her eyes.
"No way! The weakest among those yin ghosts are at the Yang level. I'm not ready to court death!" Yan Jian instantly refused that idea.
Hua Liuli pouted. "What a coward. I wish big sister Li Yue'er would beat you up more often."
Yan Jian's face alternated between blue and red at that instant.
"Hmph! I won't quibble with you." He replied after a while.
"Big sister Li Yu'er, let's go hunt some Yin ghosts and leave these cowards here"
"Hey! Don't involve me in this!" Long Feng shouted from the side.
Before they could continue arguing, they suddenly felt the surrounding Yin energy churning explosively.
"What is going on?" Long Feng looked around with a frown. He could clearly sense the surrounding Yin energy increasing at a terrifying speed and boiling over. The temperature began to fall and they all felt an indescribable chill invade their bodies.
Hua Liuli's face suddenly changed drastically. Even when facing the Ghost Python, she was calm and even curious. But now, a frightened expression appeared on her face.
"Damn it! We have to leave, now!" She stood up and spoke with urgency and panic in her voice.
"What happened?" Yan Jian asked while his face turned grave and he began to circulate his inner energy.
"There's no time to explain. We have to go as far away from here as possible and head to the outer region of the forest. We should leave the forest if possible!"
Long Feng and the others understood the gravity of the situation from her voice and headed back to where they came from at their full speed.
Nevertheless, it was impossible for them to return to the periphery of the forest immediately because they only arrived here after three days of walking and fighting non-stop.
They would need at least two days to retrace their path.
Before they went far, they heard the sound of howling wind along with mournful cries of wild beasts and people beside their ears.
Hua Liuli instantly stopped and sighed. "It's too late. This is the Yin ghost forest's most frightening danger, the Yin energy storm. The Yin energy in the forest boils over like a volcano and rushed towards the very center of the forest. Any living being, either humans or beasts will be swept along to the depths. Few people have ever left alive and all the survivors were already mad from fear when they escaped."
Listening to Hua Liuli's explanation, Yan Jian, Long Feng and Li Yu'er's expression became increasingly solemn.
If they would really be swept to the depths of the forest, then their life and deaths would be left for the heavens to decide! Even the profound martial deity barely escaped with his life even at his peak. And he had surpassed the Imperial realm. How were they to survive then?
"What of the other competitors?" Long Feng asked.
Hua Liuli shook her head. "As long as you are in the forest, then even the Profound Martial Deity would be swept into the depths. The storm sweeps through every part of the forest. Thousand of people die whenever this happens. Normally, the storm occurs every ten years at minimum. The last one was just three years ago and now… no one expected this to happen, not even the Blue Sky Sect. Otherwise they would never organize this even if they were crazy."
As she spoke, the surrounding Yin energy suddenly gushed deeper into the forest with an explosive sound.
"No matter what, try to stay hidden. If we can survive for long enough, then we'll have a tiny chance of survival. Don't…" Hua Liuli began but wasn't able to complete her sentence.
Long Feng and the others felt an iressistable force sweeping them off their feet. Under the influence of this force, they couldn't even circulate their inner energy. It was more appropriate to say that they couldn't even find the will to resist. They could only watch as they were swept further away from each other towards the depths of the forest.
___
All the other competitors were facing the same situation. All of them were helpless to resist the storm and could only be swept away, their hearts filled with terror.
This wasn't limited to this part of the Yin ghost forest but the whole of it. It must be known that the Yin ghost forest was unbelievably large, stretching across over three continents like a huge black snake, though it was cut off in multiple placed by the vast Jade sea. Shockingly, the forest trees grew on the Jade Sea itself!
Looking at the whole forest from a high enough point, it looked like a huge snake which was covered in cuts in many areas.
Outside the Yin ghost forest in the blue sky province, a few dozen people floated in the air and looked down at the Yin ghost forest with deep frown and ugly expressions.
These figures were the core elders of the blue sky sect, and the middle aged man in the lead was the sect master of the blue sky sect! The gravity of this issue could be imagined from how even the Blue sky sect's sect master had to make an appearance.
"What is going on? Why did the Yin energy storm occur today? The previous one was just three years ago!" An elder spoke with a deep frown.
"That isn't the important matter. Those kids in the forest all have powerful masters or clans backing them. The Blue Sky sect won't be able to bear the pressure if they all lose their lives." Another elder replied.
"How are we to be blamed for their deaths? Did we create the Yin energy storm? At most we will give out some compensation and bury the matter. If they refuse to step down, then… our blue sky sect is no pushover. We didn't reach our current height by being cowards." The grand elder spoke with an overbearing tone. None of the elders present could refute him as he was right.
"Enough." The sect master spoke with a cold tone. The other elders instantly quietened down.
The Sect master thought for a moment before speaking. "This situation is indeed unfavorable for our blue sky sect. We are in the wrong regardless of how we put it. The grand elder will make sure that all the clans and figures backing these kids must be properly compensated. The real issue is still the Yin energy storm. This matter must be reported to the Yihua clan immediately. The Four dynasties would also probably be alerted and send people to investigate."
Hearing that, the other elders were shocked senseless.
"It is so serious? The Four dynasties…" An elder muttered with an indescribable expression.
"It is far more serious than we think. This matter should involve those existence within the forest. The four dynasties would definitely not take this issue lightly." The Sect master added. Compared to the elders, his expression was relatively calmer.
Hearing that this involved those existences, the elders immediately shut up. This matter had far surpassed their level. Even the Yihua clan was unqualified to participate in this matter.
"Don't worry. It has nothing to do with us. Even if the sky should fall, those above would naturally support it. The Four Dynasties will handle this. Unfortunately…Those poor kids. Their luck is just too bad." The Sect master sighed and left immediately, vanishing completely.
The Sect elders also dispersed with grave expressions on their faces.
