Warning: Drugs.
The doctor wrapped his arm in a cast. "You'll be fine. Just takes this every five minutes," he said, giving him morphine and some cocaine. "Thanks," James said, glancing at the bottle. He got up and bowing to the McKenzie sisters, soon left the room. Emma approached her father, concern etched into her features. "Are you okay, Daddy?" Emma asked. "I'm alright," James said, sitting up. Henry simultaneously entered the room. "I've already called someone to take you home. It's unfortunate that you got hurt Mr. Steward but I prefer that you go home and rest. You may take your daughter with you," Henry bowed.
James groaned and, taking the pills, perfectly threw them into the trash. "Don't be so melodramatic, I'm not dead," He said, getting to his feet. "Emma, call you mother. You, Sir Merlin, call off the transport and Jedidiah, stop sniffing my coat. That's creepy," James called out.
The five girls gasped, turning around to see the boy standing there. Jedidiah grinned and put down his coat. "Hello, James. Hello girls," He said. Lynette glared at him as did the other four. "You should be locked away in the cellar!" Jo spat venomously. Jedidiah chuckled. "I've heard that Father has left the house. Went to India huh? Lucky him. I almost hope and pray nothing horrific happens to him," He said ominously. "What do mean by that?" Lynette asked him. "Oh, nothing," He chuckled, his gaze locked on his adopted sister. "Henry, get rid of him!" Jo commanded.
Without hesitation, Henry grabbed Jedidiah by the arm and dragged him out of the room.
The phone in the living room echoed in the small home. "I'll get it," Charlotte said, rapidly approaching the device. "Hello?" She sang, picking it up. Louise continued on to knead the dough, not fully paying attention to her daughter's answer. A thud surprised her and she left the kitchen to see who it was. "My God!" She exclaimed, running up to her. She helped her to a chair, fetched some water and fanned her. Charlotte soon came to. "What happened? What's wrong?" She asked, concerned. "It's Uncle. He got hurt," She confessed to her mother.
Loud knocks reverberated in the house. The fairy maid hurriedly went to up it but the door flew open before she could. "Where is my brother?" Louise demanded, Charlotte following. "Right here," James said, appearing around the corner. Louise ran up to her brother, embracing him in a hug. "OW! Injured remembered?" He said, hissing in pain. "Shut up! What happened?" Louise asked worriedly, caressing his cheek. "Thank heavens! You may take your brother and leave. I won't have him be a burden-" Henry was cut off by a swift punch in the mouth, which sent him staggering back.
James winced seeing the punch, though a smile creeps on his face. Charlotte gasps, covering her mouth and the five girls, who had arrived at the scene, bore shocked expressions upon their features. Louise straightened herself, glaring at the old man. Henry stared at her, wiping the blood from his mouth. At that moment, Mary came into the house and her eyes laid on James. "Oh my God, James!" She ran up to him. "What happened?" She asked him. "Stairs," He grinned.
"Unacceptable! He's under YOUR care and he gets hurt! Come James," Louise said, grabbing his uninjured arm and dragging him off upstairs. Mary presently went over to her daughter. "Did he really fall down the stairs?" She asked her. "Well....." "Emily! Help me!" James cried. "Coming Daddy! Sorry Mommy," She apologized. She sped off and Mary watched her go, sighing.
"One day, James might get himself killed, "She thought.
