Josh knocked on Lous door nervously and his face dropped when Tristan opened the door, so they we're still together, and holy fuck was he tall.

"Lou he's here" Tristan shouted into the small apartment for his girlfriend. He was sceptical about the two meeting up, considering it was his girlfriend and her ex but sometimes sacrifices had to be made.

Lou walked down the hall and hugged Tristan goodbye not lingering too long as she grabbed her keys and a jacket and walked out the door with Josh.

She grabbed his hand in silence a gesture he appreciated but doubted "so you and Tristan" he began before she cut him off. "he thinks were still dating but ive been checked out of the relationship for at least a month. hes more just a friend i live with"

Josh just nodded not saying anything back and the two continued their walk in silence ending up in a corner shop. Which seemed to be something the two did a lot when they needed to talk. Lou asked for a pack of cigarettes and Josh's face had a confused look on it. "thought you didn't like cigs" he asked his confusion growing as she pocketed the packet "changed my mind i guess" she hadn't, they reminded her of him.

The two arrived at a small park and lit up a cigarette each. If this had been mere months ago they would have shared one but times changed just like people do.

Josh was the first to speak "Lou, it was a mistake" she frowned upon hearing him speak "what was a mistake" she said taking a long drag, she knew exactly what she meant she just needed to hear him say it aloud, she needed confirmation. "Losing you, dating Ivy, letting you stay with Tristan. the list could go on" he said staring at her while her eyes remained glued to the colourful playground tarmac below them.

"I talked to John a lot about you after we broke up" she said her eyes not moving, remaining focused on the ground. "I was really upset and also angry... mostly angry." she said the last part under her breath as Josh moved closer draping an arm over her shoulders pulling her tight to him.

"You need to tell him its over" Josh said to the girl who seemed so fragile to him in that moment. "Can you promise you won't leave again?" she said softly tears had begun rolling down her cheeks at the point adding to her vulnerability. The park was empty due to the crisp winter air that parents avoided so no one could see her crying. Yet she still felt so open.

She shrugged Josh's arm off her shoulders and stood up. "I should go"
"No" It was blunt and authoritative
"What" Lou said taken aback
"Don't go" Josh said. So she didn't, they sat on the bench in silence the only sound the wind and the occasional passerby.

The two decided Lou was going to properly end things with Tristan when she got home and the two would just take things slow. Not rush it just because they feel like they have to.

Lou opened the door to her apartment hands trembling, she knew what she was about to do. but she just couldn't bring herself to it. Josh hugged her one last time and wished her luck, she promised to text once she'd done it and with that Josh left.

She entered the sitting room/kitchen. "Tristan, we need to talk" she said nervously. They both knew it was coming, Tristan just didn't think it would be so soon.

There was shouting and crying and then he left, saying he'd come back for his stuff tomorrow. Lou felt relieved weirdly.
