The night his parents and him slept over at my mom's family home
We were just sitting there in silence, my head on his shoulder, I did this on impulse, because I was sleepy since I couldn't sleep the night before because of how nervous I was of meeting him for the first time. I slept around 3 am, woke up at 9 am to bring Megan to ballet class since Madeline stayed over at Eleanor's place in one of the Uptown apartments.
I closed my eyes for a bit, feeling his gaze on me, I didn't budge, the noise of people walking, the dogs barking, and the cold hot air breeze made me relaxed. I sat back up, noticing him talking to the phone, I checked my phone, to see 3 text messages from Zach. I read his three messages before responding,
Zach:
Hey Alaine! How is your dinner? I miss you
Zach: The boys and I are heading to the launch party of DreamWeaver Books. Juan's mom finally launched her Secondhand Bookstore in the Uptown area, I'll bring you here when you're free.
Zach:
Here's a photo of the venue, I wish you were here.
I clicked on the photo and saw him pouting, he looked so cute, I smiled at my phone like an idiot. I realized that he's the only guy who made me feel appreciated and wanted, he never rushed me into doing things I don't want to do and he's starting to open up more and invite me to his fellowship.
I drafted one message instead of three back to backs,
Alaine:
Hi Zachey! I'm glad you're having fun. I'm having fun here too, finally got to meet Elijah! It turns out our parents are family friends. I'll tell you all about it on our next date. :) <3
I sent the message, placed my phone in my pocket, and watched Elijah walking towards me. He looked happy, like he had some good news to share to me, he sat back down and placed his pocket on his phone.
"What's up?" I ask
"My podcast episode on Wavelength hit number one on all steaming platforms. Vivian, the manager of Katherine the podcast host asked me if I wanted to host Katherine's sister's event this Saturday night."
"What event?" I ask, "that's a huge deal."
Hosting. That was his interest, I heard that from mom, how he would always try to host his family events and come up with funny jokes to make people laugh. He knows how to work a crowd, me being an introvert, I would never do that, considering I get social anxiety sometimes. But Zach and my therapist has worked me through it, I am more laidback and open as people around me noticed.
"Katherine's sister Taylor is opening her own makeup line." He says, sitting down next to me
"Makeup line?" I ask, growing up I've always been into makeup and skincare, I would ask my mom if we can go to Rustan's to buy some NARS makeup products and during Christmas we would always do an online Sephora shopping spree to restock on some of our favorite products
"Yup!" He says, "She's inviting several influencers and told me that I can bring a plus one."
"Ohh!" I say, uncrossing my legs and yawning
"I told her that I will ask my friends if they're available but if not maybe I can take you."
"Really?" I ask, "but I don't wanna intrude, considering I'm not an "influencer" even if I do UGC."
User-generated content has also been a side of mine ever since I stumbled upon an Australian UGC Creator, who talked about her journey. I've always wanted to see how makeup events are, so I thought about it.
