"Ryoko-chan, I'm all for mischief and pranks but are you really sure about this?", Naruto whisper yelled as we creeped along the wall of the hokage tower barely out of view from the guard stationed at the entrance.
I pulled the hood of my cloak lower. I had been preparing for this for weeks no way was I going to back out now. "You don't have to do it if you don't want to", I tell him "But i'm going."
Naruto shook his head, "I can't let you go alone, I'm with you."
"Good", I glanced back at the guard who looked half asleep. So much for being a trained ninja, "You know the drill right? You have to repeat my exacting wording."
Naruto jabbed his thumb at his chest, "I don't really get any of this but leave it all to me, dattebayo!"
I nodded and Naruto ran towards the entrance. Before the guard could even turn he was already inside. Advantage of being small I guess.
I scaled the wall and started climbing it. I did this all the time in my previous life I was probably as good as at this any ninja. The real challenge was not getting seen for which I had this particular camouflage cloak which was too big on me and covered me entirely, bought by stealing Kizashi's secret stash for alcohol.
In the back of my mind I knew how ridiculous this all was but was sick of Mebuki and Kizashi, sick of this boring life. I've been in Naruto for four years now and nothing interesting has happened. I wanted to create some drama.
In the best case we'll get away with this and I'll learn an awesome new jutsu and in the worst case I'll get caught and grounded for life.
I finally reached the window and slipped into the hokage's study. Completely empty. In the distance I could hear Naruto's distinct voice shouting-
"For real gramps! There was a white haired ghost in my apartment who looked just like the face on the mountain!"
"Naruto what nonsense-" Sarutobi probably
"He was saying- 'Kill the Uchiha, kill the Uchiha-"
I sniggered and looked around for the scroll. Aha!
I recognized it at once what with the number of times I've watched the first episode. The scroll with the Shadow Clone jutsu. I trusted my ability of memorizing things well enough but I had a notebook in my satchel to note down some pointers just in case.
"He told me that you, Homura and Koharu are idiots who-", continued Naruto's voice.
I moved to grab the scroll but my foot stuck on a wire. Immediately a ringing filled the entire tower.
Fuck
I panicked and ran back to the window but on the last moment tripped on my cloak and landed on my face.
Amazing, just amazing.
It didn't stop there.
I leaned on the wall while trying to pick myself up and the brick in the wall sank inside. I stared at my hands in disbelief, I didn't know I had super-strength
Suddenly I heard a distinct click! and the ground beneath me gave way.
I was falling down
down
down
Hmmm, hasn't something like this happened before?
I unceremoniously landed on my butt. "Ooww.....'
Wait, where was I?
I was in a circular room, it was illuminated by torches on the wall, they weren't yellow or orange but blue. All around me were books and scrolls. Right in the middle of the room was a huge scroll which seemed almost as big as me.
There was no door nor any window. I looked up, there was a roof far, far up. I probably fell from there. The wall in the hokage's room must have had a hidden door or something.
I just wanted to learn the shadow clone jutsu, now I was stuck in this creepy room.
My eyes strayed towards the scroll in the center. I had come this far so why the hell not? I slowly started towards it. I mean, putting it in the middle like it's all grand and stuff is really just asking to open it
I grabbed it and it was surprisingly light despite its large size. There was a seal on it. I gulped, if i broke the seal, there was no backing out. A small rational part of my brain screamed at me to put it back and leave it alone but as always, I ignored it.
I broke the seal and opened the scroll. The handwriting inside was so perfect that it almost shined. I started reading it.
Necromancy?
...
Before I knew it, I was halfway through the scroll. This was some serious Solo Leveling shit. It was actually quite interesting. As a med student I had dealt with many bodies alive and on the verge of death, but mostly dead though. The jutsus created and mentioned in the scroll were scientifically reasonable if you added some magical chakra in the mix.
I was surprised to notice that I understood all this, I'm pretty sure I've memorized everything I just read.....
Though, knowing the shinobi world this must be forbidden no matter how useful it is.
A sudden realization stuck me- forbidden? Don't tell me-
The sound of a weapon cutting through air brought me back to my senses and I moved away from where I was sitting at the last second.
Where I was sitting just a moment ago was a tall and thick staff. There were cracks in the ground around it, I shuddered.
Wait, I recognize this. This is-
"What do you think you're doing?", came a very raspy and scary voice and suddenly Sarutobi jumped inside.
Boi, I could ask you the same thing what do you think you are doing swinging this long ass rod-
"Let go off that scroll right. this. instant.", he said looking every bit the overpowered old granny you see in every anime.
Forget getting grounded, I was going to be killed right this instant! Shredding away all evidence of my non-existent dignity I decided to do the only thing that could save me right now.
I started crying.
