The Car Wash- Station 19

Part 4

Nobody's POV-

"Maya!" Jack said with a slightly raised voice. He was worried, he has never seen Maya like this ever. The usual Maya praised herself for being tuff and not weak, but the Maya presented infront of him was the opposite of that. He does remember Carina mention vaguely about Maya having panic attacks when she gets overwhelmed, but he thought she was just kidding, but he sees now she wasn't. 

Jack knew he had to do something, so he stepped towards Maya, crouched down and went to say something but Maya beat him to it. 

"Carina.....mad.....angry," Maya mumbled, as she tried to move, only to be stopped by the straps of the spinal board. Maya wanted to get out of there, she didn't want Carina to see her like this, they were finally getting better, she was finally getting better. 

Jack was confused, why was she talking about Carina being mad and angry? But Jack knew there was no time for that, in the moment he had to help Maya calm down.

"Mai, I know this is all very scary and you don't want to be here but we need to make sure you are ok. I'm going to be here the whole time, now I need you to take some nice long, deep breaths with me. Can you do that with me?" Jack whispered as he rubbed up and down her arm. 

Maya slowly looked over to Jack with her eyes and mumbled a quiet yes. At that response Jack gave a quick smile and took a deep breath in, he watched as Maya took a shaky breath in.

"You're doing so good, ready? Now breathe out." Jack praised. They continued to do deep breaths in and out until Maya had fully calmed down. They sat there in silence for a couple minutes, before Jack gave the doctors a nod to lower Maya. 

Maya looked around and saw some familiar faces. Miranda Bailey, Amelia Shepard, Atticus Lincoln and a few residents she's never seen before. 

"Maya, it's a pleasure to see you again, but next time I would love to see you not in a hospital bed." Miranda joked as she wheeled Maya into Trauma Bay 1. Maya just chuckled at Miranda's comment and gave her a quick hello back. Once they got to the Trauma Bay, Jack was told to stay outside, but Maya insisted Jack would come into the room. 

"Ok, Jack can come into the room, but he must stay near the door. I don't want him getting in the way." Atticus stated, to which both Maya and Jack responded with a big "Yes!"

The 3 doctors sorted out a game plan. Firstly, Amelia would check her spine, neck and head. Then, Miranda would check over her internal organs for any signs or bruising or bleeding. Lastly, Atticus would check her waist and finger. 

'Damn car scrubber' Maya thought, knowing this was going to take a long time.
