Bradley had dreamed that night for the first time in  a long time. Well it was almost a dream, it was more of an edit memory. He had replaced the girl from his childhood with his new love Raine. He could feel the sun on his skin and the wind in his hair as he and Raine sat in the tall oak tree on his parent's property. He could smell Raine's light floral perfume and shampooed hair as it blew in the wind, her smile warmed his heart. Bradley had almost been disappointed when he had awoken until he remembered he had the real thing right there in the basement.
There was a lightness in his step as Bradley headed down the hallway to his little sister's room. Bradley even found himself wisseling good morning, good morning from singing in the rain. He swings open his sister's white door with purple wildflowers painted on the front. As he did this she sat up and smiled at him, Bradley smiled back.
“Good morning Dove,” Bradley said to his sister Lily.
“Good morning Bear,” Lily says with a giggle.
“How did you sleep my pretty pretty girl,” Bradley says while reaching over to tickle Lily. The room erupts with laughter as Lily squirms from Bradley's touch. That is until she begins to cough a wet heavy cough that made Bradley stop all at once.
“Time to take your medicine my love,” Bradley tells Lily.
Lily  rolls over in the bed facing away from Bradley, then sets back up to take the pills and water now in Bradley's hand.
“Thank you Dove, I’m making blueberry french toast for breakfast. Come out when you're ready and don't forget your oxygen.” Bradley tells Lily walking out the door toward the kitchen. A thought suddenly crossed his mind that he had another girl to tell good morning to on this beautiful day. He knew he shouldn't; he knew he should wait until after breakfast when Lily would be taking her first nap of the day. He could wait though knowing he didn't have much time Bradley found himself opening the basement door and heading down the stairs.
Bradley  Raine’s golden eyes peered at him from the dark basement, dramatized by the light coming from the basement door. She didn't look scared to Bradley, she just looked confused. This realization came to Bradley with a small twinge of disappointment that he quickly shook off making his way down the stairs. He felt Raine's eyes as she finally recognized him as he flipped on a lamp not too far from where she was chained to the floor.
He felt himself inching toward her before he had intended too. He reached out to touch her sweat matted hair, she flinched as his hand reached her. So Bradley pulled back finally reconnecting to his body. Bradley heard Raine's sobs as the terror of her situation finally hit her head on like a fatal car crash. He smiled finally and he thought now he could start changing her mind about that fear of hers, and get her to love him just as he did her.
“I'll be back down with breakfast in a short while , blueberry French toast ,”Bradley said so sweetly Raine thought she might throw up.
“Would you like me to leave the light on?”Bradley asked Raine lifeless looking body.
Raine couldn't bring herself to speak and Bradley knew it so he nodded to himself, left the light on and headed back upstairs.
