(Object heads)
No POV:
Balloon was sick and tired of being the one everybody hated.
He hated being ignored, he hated being shunned, he hated being mistreated, he hated being himself, he hated being... Hated.
One thing he didn't hate though, was Cheesy.
He always liked Cheesy. Cheesy was never particularly mean to him, so Balloon never really disliked him ever, really.
They were friends, and they were becoming closer, which Balloon was quite glad for! So... It felt bad to know that doing this would break Cheesy's heart, even if it was for the better.
Balloon thought to himself 'This is for the best. I'll be happier this way—Everyone will be happier this way.' as he loaded his backpack full of essentials.
He zipped up the backpack and hoisted it onto his shoulders, taking a deep breath. He paused for a moment and looked out his window, before sighing a few seconds later and dropping the backpack onto the ground.
He sprinted over to his desk and pulled out a piece of paper that was laying on the table, grabbing a mechanical pencil and quickly writing something down, quicker than he probably had ever written something before.
The emotions he felt at this moment were mixed. He felt good to finally be getting away from all the negativity, but he also felt bad since he was leaving Cheesy, even leaving Suitcase. He knew it would break their hearts, but it was the best option for him in his eyes.
As he scribbled down the last words of the note onto the paper, he left it off with a "Sincerely, me." at the end, the mechanical pencil's lead snapping and breaking onto the paper immediately after, almost as if on cue.
He took a deep exhale out and began rummaging into his cabinets, looking for an envelope to put his note in, desperately hoping that Nickel didn't walk in.
Eventually, after probably about 20 seconds or so, he pulled out an off-white envelope that was tinted yellow. It was the perfect color for this.
Balloon put the note into the envelope and carefully sealed the envelope, laying it down flat onto the desk.
He grabbed a calligraphy pen and wrote "To: Cheesy. From: Balloon." on top of the envelope in elegant handwriting. He knew that Nickel would eventually come around and see the letter on the table, but he just hoped that he didn't read it. It didn't really contain anything personal though, he was just embarrassed.
He was embarrassed at how corny the note seemed, and how Nickel would most definitely make fun of him for it. At least, if he was even there to be made fun of.
He took one final look at the letter on the table, before looking down at his backpack and putting it on once again, walking over to the window. He took a deep breath, knowing that this would be worth it in the long run.
He opened the window, the crisp midnight air entering the room. He felt the cold breeze brush against his face, the moon casting a light into the hotel room.
He removed the screen from the window carefully and laid it leaning against the wall, pausing and looking at it for a few seconds before looking back at the now empty window.
He reached his hand through the window as he felt the breeze hit his hand. He wasn't exactly sure the reason why he did this... he supposed it was sort of a reality check.
He looked down at the space below him, the grass flowing beautifully. He climbed out of the window and dangled his feet. He was afraid of jumping down this high, but he knew he wouldn't get injured, since he was still full of helium. If any normal person dropped down from this height they would probably break something important.
He lowered himself down from the window sill and let go, making him fall down to the ground slowly but surely. He was a balloon after all. He got up and dusted himself off, looking at his wrist watch afterwards.
"1:13 AM" The clock said. This was perfect. Nobody would see him leave since everybody was asleep, and he could go without any disturbances or interruptions.
He walked and made his way to the small car in front of Hotel OJ, opening the door and hopping in as quietly as he could. He put his hands on the steering wheel and took a deep breath, looking out of the windshield and at the bright, full moon.
He decided that he should just rip off the bandaid, and he inserted the keys into the car. He could feel the car start and warm up in his seat, and he waited a full 5 minutes before doing anything to make sure nobody had woken up. He didn't want to get caught.
He stepped his foot onto the gas pedal and made his way out of the hotel's parameters, finally leaving the forsaken place he once called his home.
He used the slight knowledge stored in the back of his brain to drive from when he had taken a driving test all those years ago. He got himself a car, but never used it. This was the first time he ever put his hands on the steering wheel and actually drove it.
He didn't have any place to stay other than Hotel OJ, so he guessed that he would just have to sleep in his car for the time being. He made his way through the dark roads, his headlights leading the way.
As he drove farther and farther away from the waypoint of Hotel OJ, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. He felt a weight lift off of his chest, and the sense of freedom he got from rolling down his windows and letting the cool air enter the car was undeniably relaxing. Especially when you compared it to the intensity of Hotel OJ.
Though with those same positive feelings came the negative ones. He knew that he still had Cheesy on his contacts, but leaving the hotel meant leaving everyone, and everyone included Cheesy.
Regardless of whether or not he still knew Cheesy, he knew he would never be the same after this. For the better, or for the worse.
As he breathed in the calming autumn air, he hummed a tune to himself.
"Moving right along in search of good times and good news, with good friends you can't lose, this could become a habit!
Opportunity knocks once, let's reach out and grab it, together we'll nab it, we'll hitchhike, bus, or yellow cab it.
Moving right along
Footloose and fancy free,
Getting there is half the fun, come share it with me.
Moving right along
We'll learn to share the load,We don't need a map to keep this show on the road."

1,149 words, one of my shorter ones, though I might make multiple parts!
This oneshot was based off of the song "Moving right along" (If you couldn't tell already).
The song really struck a chord with me when I first listened to it, and it couldn't help but give me a wave of inspiration to write something.
I really like this song, especially since this song is from a Muppets movie. The Muppets hold a very dear place in my heart, so writing this was quite nice for me.
Special thanks to @DeadlyComicsYT on YouTube for introducing me to this song!
