I stared down at the man who claimed to be Kristin's mate, still gasping as he rubbed his already bruising throat.

Aiden struggled to stand straight as he looked from Seth to Asher before his eyes landed on me. They were nearly black, his body shaking as his wolf fought for control - I hadn't missed that he hadn't been able to change while in Kristin's grasp.

"Seth and Asher will show you out. Whatever alliance you wanted is no longer on the table," I spoke firmly, trying to keep my own control.

There was nothing I wanted more than to rip his head from his body.

"We just got here. You aren't even going to take a moment and listen to what we have to offer," Beta Julian stammered, looking back to Aiden, completely baffled. "We can come to an agreement here."

"Julian," Aiden warned.

"Aiden, we need the help, the resources. You can put aside whatever the hell that was for the pack."

"I believe that Kristin stated there would be no alliance, and I agree with her," I said. "You two can leave now."

I took a few steps until Aiden and I were nearly chest to chest.

"You're really gonna throw away a business deal, an extra pack, over her," Aiden finally said, and I clenched my jaw.

The last thing I needed to be dealing with was the consequences of killing an Alpha.

"She is the Luna of Black River. If she says there's no alliance, then there won't be," I stated lowly. "And quite frankly, your pack has nothing to offer Black River other than a headache. We won't be missing much."

Aiden shifted slightly and my hand itched. It'd take nothing than a swift move of my hand before he was out cold on my conference floor. But I wanted him off of my territory, I wanted him as far away from Kristin as he could get.

I leaned in, my voice deadly as I uttered my next words as a promise.

"And if I so much as hear that you even mention her name, you'll have a war on your hands. And I won't stop until you and your entire pack are ashes on the ground."

Aiden stared at me, seeming to silently debate his options before he nodded. With that, he grabbed Julian by the shirt and exited the room.

Seth and Asher stood for a moment.

"That put Addison's soap opera's to shame."

"Can we talk?"

She leaned against the door frame of my room, arms crossed over her chest. Her dress had been replaced with sweats and a hoodie - my hoodie, the one I had given her when leaving the hospital. All traces of makeup were gone, and her hair had been pulled back into a low ponytail, the curls that were once there looking more like her natural waves now. And if I thought she had been breathtaking earlier, I stood corrected now.

But the nagging hurt in my chest fought against the urge to wrap her in my arms, no matter how devastatingly beautiful she looked.

Her eyes were a shade greener, a dead give away that she had been crying, and I tried not to care, but it felt impossible. This girl had turned me inside out, the entirety of my mood depended on a single smile, a single frown. Her happiness had become my sole priority in such a small time. And fuck, being mad at her seemed to hurt me a hell of a lot more than it hurt her.

I gave her a single nod, and she stepped forward, shutting the door behind her before meeting me in the middle of the room, only a foot between us. I sighed, crossing my own arms over my chest to mirror her.
