2000 years before demon slayer starts, Curses roamed japan until 5 mysterious sorcerers appeared and were able to seal away the cursed energy of all future lifeforms at the cost of their own lives, after a few years all cursed had been rid of the world by the remaining sorcerers but beacuse of the seal the 5 mysterious sorcerers made sorcerey started to dissapear from the public view

TIMESKIP TO AROUND THE TIME DEMON SLAYER STARTS

Y/N was considered a weirdo as a child due to them being able to see things others couldnt, Y/N as a child would describe being able to see the energy flowing in people but it was just written off as chunibyo syndrome
After Y/N comes home from work they are attacked by a newly made demon (only 5 humans eaten) andthey awaken thier cursed energy for the first time and is able to hold their own against the demon until sunrise.
and after all this, the good part of the story finnaly starts
