One thing Jesse had picked up as a little hobby and did here and there was anything with motorcycles, cars, and anything like the sorts. He'd rode bikes before and driven before obviously but it wasn't something he realized he enjoyed so much until one day he just tried it again since he had to get a means of transportation when he was moving to where he lives now. He liked detailing cars and motorcycles sometimes because it was fun and it was an easy way to earn some extra pocket cash.

Genji was the one that presented the idea to him when Jesse casually brought up the fact that he liked cleaning up and dealing with cars. Genji and surprisingly Mei were the ones he mainly kept in touch with after Overwatch disbanded, he'd talk to them occasionally over the phone and  what not. He kept in touch with Genji because he had gotten especially close to him when he was with Hanzo and the connection never died off after Hanzo broke up with him; he was so grateful because he had really needed a friend when everything went down and Genji really understood what he was going through since he went through something similar with Angela when everything went south. He really was like a brother to Jesse. Genji and Hanzo's relationship was always extremely strained and Jesse was thrown right in the middle of it when he got with Hanzo, and it was something he was constantly dealing with. But he did it happily because he loved Hanzo and he understood the burdens of killing somebody, perhaps not a brother, but killing was all the same to him and for that he was always empathetic with him and understanding. In fact, it made him really fall for him more to see how sentient he was even after making some really crazy mistakes, it humbled to see him try and redeem himself perpetually because Jesse was honestly going through the same thing after being involved with Deadlock, just of course in a different shade, but once again it was the same concept of doing things because you're brainwashed and you don't know any better.

Genji had stayed in the states with Jesse and they lived pretty close to each other, they agreed being roommates wouldn't be the best option because they work differently and what not and they had learned that after being around each other all the time when Overwatch was still a thing. But they visited each other and spent time together as much as their schedules would allow them too, a lot of debriefing. Sometimes they'd get a hold of some dirt bikes and race each other or Genji would drag Jesse to an arcade he found because of course he found an arcade he liked.

Genji and Jesse basically were both vigilantes because it was just difficult as is to find "normal" jobs having what people would call "robot parts". Who knew it would be so difficult to find jobs with cybernetic enhancements in a world where they're so common but they managed and found what worked. They wouldn't work together most of the time because they had their own messes they wanted to mop up, but from time to time they would unite. Genji would help Jesse with car stuff since Genji was a much quicker learner than Jesse was so he understood more complicated aspects of cars and what not, especially when it came to the computer part of it for seemingly obvious reasons considering he was part computer at this point.

Jesse kept in touch with Mei because they'd have a few interactions back in the day and even though he was very skeptical of what she studied, he was interested and liked learning from time to time. Weather was important to Jesse now that his arm was so sensitive to it and he found that she had a great personality, and she understood the pains of loss too. One day he had sat down with her after grabbing some coffee since she was sipping cocoa and reading a book by herself in a lounging area. Then with time he found her to be humorous and he appreciated the fact that she genuinely cared about the world and was passionate about what she was involved in, he could stand to be around somebody genuine like that. Eventually he even learned about her trip to Antarctica and how she was the only survivor of a group of scientists that went out there, he would've never guessed that she was carrying such a heavy weight too.

She was back in China and she would frequent South Korea, Japan, and the states where Jesse was to visit. She used to travel way more, especially before Overwatch disbanded. She had found out that the facility was shutting down before a lot of the agents and she decided to pack up and get a kick start on her personal pursuits because Overwatch had taught her a lot about being by herself and she wanted to put those teachings to use. And then to Jesse's dismay the whole thing shut down, Mei had actually told Jesse she was sure it was going down soon but he was too hard headed to believe her...he'd never doubt a scientist again.

She was also there for him whenever Hanzo had broke up with him, she was a great friend and she constantly checked up on him when it had happened. Offering to go out for sweets, coffee or cocoa, and even walks along the sunset depending on which base they were staying at. He didn't understand how such a soft hearted person could even handle the rigors of Overwatch.

Mei was now doing a ton of climatology work to try and make ends meet with the rising temperatures of the earth, she was doing what she could as an independent climatologist. She mostly did work with meteorologists to report weather to the people of China while she tried to find ways to slow down global warming and stabilize weather patterns. It was difficult, but she was passionate about it and she wouldn't stop until she would make a break through.

Jesse cleaned his mug and put it back in the cupboard, staring at it for a moment with a frown, his heart tightening in what felt like his throat. Letting out a sigh he closed it and shook the grief off and grabbed the keys to head to the garage portion of where he was staying.
