The sound of running feet filled the air, a small girl with white hair that had a lime green streak hurried down the sidewalk, dark green eyes darting around as people looked at her but didn't bother to stop and lend her a hand. Her right arm flopped around, pain surging through her body as a purple haired man walked after her humming a creepy yet sweet tune as he got closer. "Come on, just a quick patrol." "No! Now go away bird brain!" The five year old crashed into something feathery and red, falling over onto her broken arm, a whimpering gasp erupting from her. The winged man turned looking curious, then crouched down and tilted his head to the side. "Hey kiddo"The man greets looking curiously down at her. She trembled, her eyes wide as she gripped her broken arm. "Need to go to a hospital?" She quickly shook her head, the mans eyes staying on her. "Hawks, your face is scaring that child"A fire man huffs. "Offensive!"Hawks gasped. He looked back at her, throwing her a friendly smile.
"I'm Hawks, number 2 pro hero, fire guy behind me is Endeavor, the number one hero"Hawks greets Endeavor staring down at her. She looked from Hawks to Endeavor, silently tightening her grip on her arm. "She needs to get to a hospital.."Endeavor comments frowning. She gasped and looked around behind, her with wide eyes searching for the purple haired man only to see him gone. "No...no..."The girl mumbles trembling as she searched for him. Hands placed themselves under her pits, her body stiffening as Hawks lifted her to her feet. "You scared of hospitals, kiddo, you know some are helpful?"Hawks questions. Feathers floated down from his wings, keeping her eyes on him as the feathers darted away checking the area. "I don't wanna!"The girl cries attracting a crowd. Endeavor looked around and frowned at the staring people, Hawks keeping his eyes on the girl. "Can I have your name at least then?"Hawks asks checking her arm, gently poking at it.
"Haruka."
He looked at her again, Haruka trembling as she watched him. "I see..."Hawks says standing up. His feathers dragged over a purple man in a fancy suit, Haruka clinging to Endeavor's leg with wide eyes, tears threatening to fall. "BAD MAN! BAD MAN!"Haruka cried burying her face into his leg. Endeavor kneeled down, placing a hand on her back as he glared at the bad man. "You abusing this child?"Hawks asks Haruka trembling as tears fell down her cheeks. The man merely smiled in response. "Haruka always says the silliest thing, we're playing a game of chase"Bad man chuckles. Hawks stared at him blank faced, the crowd murmuring as a few showed pity for the child. "Haruka." The child flinched, tightening her grip on Endeavor. Hawks looked back at her, lifting the man higher with his feathers. "You're gonna be alright now, the bad man won't hurt you anymore"Hawks promised Haruka staring up at him stunned. Endeavor picked her up, careful of his flames. "What do we do with him?"Endeavor asks.
"We'll drop him off at the police station"Hawks responds turning his attention to the bad man. Chuckling came from the bad man, before black flames bursted from his body, burning Hawks feathers instantly. Haruka screamed, Endeavor's grip on her tightening as he shielded her with a single arm from the fire. Endeavor's eyes widened as the flames scorched him, feeling the child gone from his grip. Hawks patted the flames out, his eyes widening slightly. He knew who this guy was. The rumored fire man that appears and disappears chasing after a small child almost everyday. Kaen. That was the mans name. Not much else was known about him besides that. Kaen chuckled, Haruka slung over his shoulder unconscious. "Everyone evacuate!"Endeavor commands looking at the crowd as the police arrived. Kaen smiled at the two, flames eating away at Haruka's clothes and skin. "He's trying to kill her!"Endeavor yells Hawks staring at the smiling man. "And I'll kill you both as well!"Kaen laughs throwing flames at them.
Endeavor moved in front of Hawks, blocking the flames. Kaen tossed Haruka down behind him, the flames continuing to eat away at her. Hawks lifted into the air, moving backwards as he dodged the flames, his eyes darting between the unconscious child and Kaen. He dove down towards her, reaching for Haruka but flames blasted him sideways, Kaen chuckling as he grinned at him. Flames send Kaen flying backwards, Endeavor gripping the mans shoulder then tossing him into a building. "Hero's, hero's all around~~"Kaen sang as he walked through the rubble, smiling cheerily. "Hero's save the day, always finding a way"Kaen continues easily dodging Endeavor's attacks and ducking when Hawks attempted an attack on him. "The bastards mocking us!"Endeavor scowled looking irritated. "He's shielding the child as well..."Hawks mutters Kaen humming the lyrics of his little song. "HARUKA!" Haruka twitched, burn marks across her body. "HARUKA!!"
"Hero's call the childs name, sadly that will be in vein~"Kaen sings merrily, dodging Hawks feathers and burning any that came close to even attacking him. Movement made the man freeze, his head turning sharply as Haruka pushed herself up into a sitting position. "The hell...."Kaen mumbles. A flaming fist punched him down, sending him flying back the child, tumbling across the ground to a stop. "Cocky bastards loose"Endeavor scowled Kaen glaring at him. Haruka stared, gripping her broken arm. "Haruka!" Hawks landed and held his hands out. "Come here!" He stared at her, keeping his hands outstretched towards the child. "DON'T you dare!" She looked back, Kaen standing there. Black flames shot up, blocking Endeavor's fire. "Haruka!"Endeavor yells holding a hand out, keeping the fire attack up. She shot to her feet, Kaen's hand snagging her hair, snatching her backwards. A feather sliced some of her hair off, shocking her abusive guardian as she ran away.
Hawks caught her when she leaped into his arms, Endeavor powering up his flames. "I couldn't go full force because you were subtly shielding that girl! Now you're gonna pay!"Endeavor yells adding more flames to his attack. Kaen threw himself to the side when Endeavors flames blasted through his own, fire burning his dominant arm. Feathers snagged his clothes, a fist punching him in the face then the stomach before grabbing the mans face and slamming him into the ground, pinning him there. Haruka stared in surprise, clinging to Hawks. "He's a sneak! Be careful!"Hawks orders as the cops took over. The officers hauled Kaen to his feet, forcefully leading the man away. "You're gonna regret helping that child!! She's a monster!"Kaen yells Hawks covering Haruka's ears. "You're alright now." She looked up, Hawks staring down at her. An officer walked over, Hawks passing the child to him. "She needs medical attention as quick as it can be done"Hawks orders Hazuka looking nervous. The officer nodded and hurried away.
Endeavor walked over, watching as the officer handed Haruka to an ambulance team. Haruka stared as they applied bandages to her burns, a few people with healer quirks hovering their hands over where Kaen's flames ate away at. "Will she be okay now?"Hawks asks fixing his goggles as some of his unharmed feathers returned to his wings. "Kaen is going to be sent to Tartarus, the child will be alright....that is, if they can find someplace to settle her down at after this"Endeavor responds looking curious about why he was poking his nose into the childs new life. Hawks nodded, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'll take her when the time comes then." Silence followed, Endeavor staring down at Hawks silently with wide eyes. "You'd make a horrible parent"Endeavor retorts turning away. "I wouldn't!"Hawks protests amused. He looked back at Haruka looking serious again, getting reminded of himself somewhat. "I'll take her just for now and make sure she'll be alright"Hawks promised watching the ambulance take off.
