Today isn't going to end well, and I know it. I don't know what exactly would cause that, but I have a few suggestions, maybe actually only one suggestion.
I feel like today might not end well because I'm suddenly so certain that her plan to save my sister from Orlando wouldn't work.
And Orlando, that man hasn't failed to haunt me. He sends me messages every thirty minutes either reminding me to bring my sister to his party, or else he'll kill the both of us. He sends me messages telling me what my sister is doing every sixty minutes just so I have it in mind that he's watching us closely. He even goes as far as sending me a text on how I've done a pretty good job in making her look hot just for him. I see that particular message when I'm driving to his mansion, and it makes me crazy.
Am I seriously taking Serenity to this party so she can get raped? What kind of man am I?
I'm sure Yetunde can feel the fear radiating off me. So when I'm resting my hand on the gear, she places her little hand on top of mine, assuring me that everything is going to be okay without using her mouth to say so. I want to believe her. I so desperately want to believe her, but I can't.
When we stop at a traffic light, Orlando sends me another message, telling me to bring Serenity to him immediately we arrive, because he can't wait any longer.
At this point, my blood starts to boil. So he really, really, wants to have sex with a minor? A little girl that doesn't know anything? He wants to deflower my innocent sister?
It only takes a couple of minutes before we reach the mansion, and when we park, Yetunde tells Serenity to come out first because she wants to talk to me. She does as she's told and she leans against the car and busies herself with her phone. It just angers me how some of the men are already feasting their eyes on her, stopping to stare. And it hurts me even more to see that Serenity doesn't even notice this, that she doesn't even notice how pretty she is.
"Baby, it's going to work, okay?" Yetunde says. I scoff and grip her tiny hand even tighter.
"What if it doesn't?" I doubt. I turn my head to look her in the eye. "Yetunde, what if it doesn't?"
"Don't doubt me all of a sudden!" she commands, her voice sounding strong and firm. "Have I ever let you down?"
I'm silent before I answer her.
"No."
She smiles at me and places her delicate finger on my shoulder, biting her lips and and slowly tracing the finger along my bicep.
"Exactly," she says, her voice sounding all smoky. "I've never let you down. So never doubt me; it hurts." She's about to alight the vehicle when she stops to say, "And most importantly," her voice is even smokier, "you look like a snack tonight."
With that, she lets go of me and gets out of the car. I'm left with no choice but to follow. I make sure Serenity walks in the middle of Yetunde and me because I can't risk it. The way the men in here openly ogle at her is something else, and judging by the way she's gripping her arms, it's obvious she doesn't like it at all. So I hold her hand and make her walk beside me.
It hurts me to see that the minute I hold her hand, her first reaction is to pull it out of mine, but when she sees the reassuring look on my face, she calms down and let's me hold her. We're walking towards the stairs when everything starts to go south.
"Hey!" a voice shouts from behind us. "Yo Tae! Hol'up man!"
Recognising the voice, I quickly use my eyes to tell Yetunde to follow the other stairs leading to Orlando's room so she can carry out the plan. When she goes the other way, I try my best to speedwalk towards the stairs with my sister, but the guy double-crosses the both of us and blocks our path.
