Dylan
At the end of my class I was making my way to my locker after parting ways with Mya and Carter, just to see Marcus already at my locker. He definitely skipped class or something 'cause ain't no way he got there that quick.
"Are we doing it at my crib or yours?" He asked as soon as I got to my locker. I shrugged in response.
To be honest, I was a bit upset with how he was acting. One minute he's acting like he had an attitude about the situation and next he's acting cordial and like he's so ready to study. At that point I decided not to even answer him, maybe he'll figure out where we'll go.
"Okay? My crib it is then." He answered. I can see him making a face at me from the corner of my eye but I still didn't say nothing as I grabbed everything I needed out my locker.
"Helloo! You don't hear me talking to you." He was waving his hand at me. I just turned and looked at him, still not saying anything. I know if we were going to be studying together I can't be ignoring him the whole time but as for right now I really didn't feel like talking.
"I gotta call my mom and let her know that I'm leaving with you."
He nodded his head in response,
you can see he was irritated. I pulled out my phone. It rung twice before she actually picked up."Hello? Is everything okay? I'm outside waiting on you guys." She sounded confused but worried at the same time. Maybe because I've never actually called her after school because I never went anywhere.
"Yeah, um, I'm going over a friend's house to study for a test we have on Friday and I'm going to be riding with them. I was just calling to let you know."
"Oh okay, sure! Just let me know when you make it there, and be safe." I simply said okay before hanging up the phone, I turned to Marcus looking at him, signaling that I was ready before he began walking out the school doors and I followed.
When we made it outside, I got a good look at his car before getting in. It was nice on the outside and it sure as hell was nice on inside. I don't know much about cars but I could tell it was expensive as fuck.
I put my seat belt on and leaned my head against the window, still not trying to initiate a conversation with Marcus and I guessed he sensed it because he wasn't trying to make conversation either, instead he kept whispering stuff to hisself here and there with an attitude.
When he pulled into the drive way I was met with a big ass house, it wasn't as big as Ciara's but it was still big. I'm starting to think everybody in that group got money or something.
Sure enough it was just as nice on the inside. It was decor almost everywhere you turned and everything was put up nice and neat, almost too neat like they had a maid or something.
"Ma dukes not here so we got the crib to ourselves." He said finally breaking the silence as he fully walked into the house.
My dukes?
I looked at him, confusion probably written all over my face "Your dukes?"
He looked like he wanted to laugh but he was holding it in. "You wouldn't talk to me for like twenty minutes and the first thing to get you talking is me saying something 'bout my momma." He shook his head as he started walking down a long hallway.
I followed him. "Yeah- I mean no...I just never heard anybody refer to their mother like that before." I stuttered a little, following him like a lost puppy.
"Mother?" He repeated what I said like he was...disgusted that I used the word or something.
"Yeah, it's better than calling her a duke, what even is a duke anyway."
