"There's not always a happy ending" Dad spoke, although, I couldn't understand a bit of it, I said nothing because I was sure Marlon understood it. "Dinner's ready!" Mom shouted from the dining room. "Let's go" Kinsely said pulling father's shirt. He delivered a smile and went away with her. "Explain it, will you?" Galen spoke, I was glad he did, I'd rather not understand anything than asking Marlon about it "You will understand soon" He replied with a smile, I hated. "Do you understand it or are you lying?" Galen stated, He does it everytime, playing with words, He's good at it. "I do, but I assume you forgot the rules, ask dad again." Marlon was aware of these games and never lost. Galen grinned and went away. Marlon also started walking away with me by his side. "You don't have to be that rude" I said, with a poker face. "Jesus, sia, You know him right? He's like this! When you were his age, you were just perfect, in fact even better than me, He doesn't have to play that dumb, you know?" I was mad, really mad, that I stopped, looked straight into his eyes and spoke. "That was because I didn't had any Marlon to compete with, back then." It was right after this, I realised I shouldn't have said that. "We'll talk later, keep your door open" I fucked up, I know I did.

It wasn't much after the time we started eating food when Marlon spoke "I heard about a competition, dad." I choked on my food, Galen did too. We both stopped eating, looked at everyone, My mother was still smiling at Kinsely, like she didn't heard it. My little sister couldn't care less. "Not yet, Lon, This, is not the right time." Father stated without even looking at him. "Next week, dad." Marlon spoke and started eating his food. "That's sugar not salt!" Kins shouted, dad and mom passed a smile, Galen, Embrassed put down the sugar and didn't even got the salt. "Idiot." kins whispered, but it was enough for the three of us to hear. "I'm done" Immediately, Galen stood up and started to walk away. "I'm full too" I gave a smile and joined Galen. "It's okay" I said but that wasn't enough for him "It's not. . . Can we talk, tonight?" I gave him a reassuring smile, It was a yes. . . Guess I can't sleep tonight. I bid goodbye and enter my room. I went straight to my bed, and lay down, and before I realised it, Unwanted thoughts came but they were valid, why now? If father wanted to train us why not before? I remember asking him Do you want me to be like yourself dad? Which he denied, He said, He wanted be to be something he wasn't . Then why? Why now? It was pretty hard to clear these thoughts but they were gone the moment Marlon entered my room after just almost one hour.

"You weren't asleep, were you?" He said, I said nothing but that was more than enough for him to understand, He slided the chair that was near the window and the table, and sat down. "Is anything wrong? You can tell me" Marlon looked absolutely perfect that night, the words were perfect too but I won't be soft today. "Father, told me not to tell." His eyes started to avoid my eyes, looked down and spoke "Why me?" I wish I could shout at him and tell him that's what I am searching! That's what I've been wondering. . Why you? Wasn't I good enough? Before I could utter a single word, The door opened a Galen came in, amused by the sight, he let out a sigh, looked at me and I gave him a smile that was enough for him to come and join us. He sat beside me and spoke "I want to talk to sia. . . Without you." Marlon looked at Galen and he was smirking. . . "Don't you guys want to know what you are competing for? I can tell you but for that you guys would've have to stop competing" Galen looked at me and started speaking "I won't compete, tell me now." I looked at Galen with eyes full of love, because I knew what he was up to. He would tell father he doesn't want to compete, and tell me the thing we were competing for, oh Gal. "Both of you" Marlon looked at both of us, Nothing was more important for me than this competition, Gal knew it. "Leave." Galen said and with that, Marlon looked at me one last time and I gave him a Leave look too and he left. "Why was he here?" Galen spoke as soon as Marlon left. "He wanted to talk about the competition " I said, Galen looked at me, He wanted to know why Marlon was here before him, all of it, he wanted every single word we talked about "I know you won't have told him anything but Could you tell me what would happen if we lose?" Galen spoke lightly and it hurted me because I knew nothing. I sighed "It doesn't matter, what if the price is something we don't even want? What if losing this competition doesn't matter?" Galen smiled maybe that was what he needed to hear and he stood up and while closing the door said "You should sleep" with that said, he left. I was just so tired after this conversation that within few minutes, I was fast asleep.
