Just a word before I continue, the way I depict blue isn't as overly energetic and is a lot smarter than most people act he is.

-Okay into the story!-

I skipped through Snowdin happily, the snow lightly falling from the cave top .

"Y/n!" I heard a familiar voice exclaim behind me, turning my head to see my best friend-Blue. I smiled brightly, turning to face him completely as he ran up to me.

I laughed softly.

"Hey Blue! It's been awhile, how's the Royal Guard training going?"

His smile grew wider, "Oh! It's going great! I'm really getting close to becoming one of the best guards in the Underground!" He proudly claimed, putting his hands on his hips, puffing his chest out.

I giggled, nodding. "I believe it." I smiled.

He was so optimistic and full of hope, just like me. We'd always talked about wanting to see the sky, to feel the wind, to go out and make a difference. He wanted to be in the Royal Guard so that he could help the underground by taking care of all the bad guys and making the Underground a safer place for everyone. While I was happy for him, I couldn't help but feel a little jealous...

He was going to be doing something, at least. While I would only be stuck in the Ruins with Asgore, my father ...

I couldn't help but look down a little bit, my smile faltering. He noticed this immediately, tilting his head in confusion.

"Y/n? Are you okay?"

"O-oh! Yeah, I'm fine-just a little up and down" I assured, looking back at him.

His eyes searched mine.

"Are you sure? You don't seem like your usual self..."

I sighed a bit, smiling a bit.

"Sorry, it's nothing. Just a lot on my mind, is all."

"I know how you can get distracted! But come on! Let's go hang out at our favorite spot!" He beamed, taking my hand and leading the way.

"You don't have anything else to do?" I asked, surprised, letting him lead me through the forest.

"Not today! It's a slow day for training." He told me, walking towards a cliff in the middle of the forest. We stopped at the edge, staring at the view of the rest of the Underground.

I smiled, my eyes lighting up.

"It's still beautiful..."

He nodded, sighing contently.

"You know, we may not be able to see the sky, but that doesn't mean we can't be a part of something great ." He told me, looking over at me.

I looked back at him.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, even if we can't be a part of that big picture, that doesn't mean we can't be a part of a smaller one." He explained, sitting down at the edge. I joined him.

"I suppose..."

He looked over at me, his eyes searching mine once more.

"Y/n, what's really wrong?" He asked gently, putting a hand on mine.

I sighed, looking down at our hands.

"I'm not going to get out of this, am I?" I mumbled, a small smile forming.

He smiled a bit, shrugging.

"You've always been easy to read, y/n." He said.

"I guess I have, haven't I?"
