Marinette looked out the window into the dark cloudy day. There was a light drizzle of rain as the cold wind gently brushed against her. It had been a few months since she moved here. She bought this small house with all the money she owned from all the fashion competitions she took part in and from all the designs she sold. But that wasn't enough so she decided to get a mortgage on it. She will be able to pay it back on her own but it will just take some time.

In this foreign land where she had nowhere to belong to she needed.... no... wanted a place she could call home. Marinette didn't have a home. Paris wasn't her home anymore. Home is somewhere you belong, where you feel safe, where you have someone waiting for you, someone who loves you... Marinette didn't have any of that anymore.

So she's trying to make this place far from anyone and everyone her home. She will build her home by herself bit by bit.

" Marinette!! What colour do you want for the kitchen?"

Well, it's not only herself alone in this; after all, she still has them.

" I think black and green looks great Suger cube!"

"  I am not asking you plagg! So shut up about that already!! "

" Now you shouldn't argue like that. And Plagg isn't wrong per se. Green would look good"

" Wayzz!!"

" Yeah, and you're not saying that just because YOU are green, right? " Kaalki asked unimpressed.

The kwamis just watched as Duusu tried and failed to keep the peace.

" I wish I had popcorn with this" Sass was enjoying this immensely.

As was Trixx and the other kwamis, " same "

Well, other than pollen, who was getting irritated by their lack of fashion sense.

They just ignored the mumbling coming from the yellow kwami about " uneducated fools!!" Or about their " zero creativity and lack of fashion sense"

There never were any quiet moments with them around. She knew for certain that they were all awake and buzzing about; it had to do with them not wanting to leave her all alone. They always took time to make sure a couple of them always stayed with her shortly after all the things started.

After plagg came back they insisted on keeping all miraculous on her at all times. Hence the small box-shaped red locket around her neck.

If it were the Marinette from before, maybe she would be freaking but losing them or someone finding out, but all the present Marinette could feel was a sense of attachment that grounded her.

As much as she was the guardian of the miraculous box and the protector who was supposed to protect it, it was the kwamis that were currently protecting her.

The weight of the small box around her neck that represented them was the only source of warmth that reminded Marinette of who she once was.

Who she was supposed to be. The Marinette that was so far out of her reach now.

In peaceful moments like this, Marinette feels she can breathe again. Like she wasn't drowning on land with no one to save her other than the string of the most sincere feelings that the kawmis brought her to keep herself afloat.

Maybe one day, she will be able to break the wall she started to build 2 years ago, and finally, she will breathe freely like she used to.
