EDWARD

"So Umm..." I heard Marie's voice about 20 minutes into the drive. "How did you guys know Niall?"

"We were all on the campaign committee together," I explained quickly, as I could see her turn toward me out of the corner of my eye, despite the dark.

"Oh, a campaign for what?" She asked.

Before I could even answer Harry spoke up, "he was actually the president," he said, sounding irritated.

"He was?" I could hear the smile in her voice. "I had no idea. I knew he was studying politics, but I didn't really have many details. He was so busy."

"Yeah, he was a busy guy." I replied, "he was great though. He really kept us running."

"Wait, so were all of you on that committee?" She asked.

"On the committee? We are the committee." Liam spoke up.

"Just you guys?" She asked.

"Yeah, well and Niall.." I replied, immediately wanting to take the words back.

Watch your damn mouth Edward. I could hear his voice in my mind. I always spoke at the wrong time, or said the wrong thing. Always.

"Right," she nodded, getting quiet again. "I think I'm gonna try and sleep, if that's okay?"

"Yeah, yeah go for it." I encouraged. "I think Louis and Zayn are asleep too."

She didn't respond after that, just curling up with her knees tucked into her long dress.

"Harry, are there any extra blankets back there?" I asked, looking through the rearview mirror and hoping he'd hand one up to us.

"No." He replied, not even looking to see if there was any.

I rolled my eyes. "Okay, thanks for checking."

He just hummed in response.

"Sorry about that," I said, looking over at Marie again.

"It's fine. I'm not cold. Wake me up if we make a stop please?"

"Yeah, totally. Sleep well." I told her awkwardly.

She fell asleep surprisingly quickly, she must've really tired herself out. It had to have been a long day for her, and it hurt a bit to see someone so sad.

"The campaign committee? Really?" Harry hissed through his teeth once we were certain she was asleep, small snores falling from her lips. Her sinuses were full and swollen from crying.

"She put me on the spot! I didn't know what to say!" I whisper shouted back.

"You're supposed to let us do the talking. Remember?" He responded with frustration.

"Yeah? Well what would you have said? We have to have an excuse for getting those documents from his apartment." I countered.

"Well... I- I dunno. But definitely not that. There has to be a campaign going on for there to be a fucking campaign committee." Harry was so angry. I hated when he got mad.

"We'll come up with a campaign then, I dunno. That would fix it right?" I responded.

"No.. Edward. Why do you have to be so.. so stupid all the time?" He spoke with such malice, it chilled me to the bone. "We can't just make something up."

"Well, why not?"

"Because Edward, you have to be a student to do that on campus." He snapped. "I'd kick you out of this whole damn thing if I could."
