Chapter 6

NIALL

I sat on the lounge staring at the floor, still in shock about what I had overheard Rachel tell Pete. She had to sleep in parks and under cardboard. She had left our hotel room a year ago and ended up living on the streets.  I looked at my friends and they all had equally shocked faces, but Louis was the only one who knew that Rachel was the girl from Australia. He came and sat beside me and put his hand on my shoulder.

“You can make sure that she is looked after now, Ni.” He whispered.

I nodded my head, unable to speak.

“I am going to slam the front door shut so that she has a minute to compose herself before she sees us.” Louis said standing up.

I heard the door slam and then Louis came back into the room.

“Come on guys, she will know we heard her if we are all moping. We will talk about it when she isn’t around.” Louis said, I looked up and smiled at him just as Pete and Rachel walked into the room.

I wanted to know her, I wanted to know the reason for her being in that elevator that night, and why she didn’t have anywhere to go.  Where was her family?

She went and sat on the floor away from everyone else. Pete came and sat beside me.

“Well you all look as if you seen a ghost.” Pete said trying to bring some conversation into the quiet room.

“Um we saw a dog get run over on the way to the shop. It was very sad.” Louis said quickly.

“Oh no that’s awful.” Rachel said.

“Yeah, but I guess we really should eat this food before it gets cold.” Louis said not wanting to go into detail as he had just lied to Rachel.

We all began moving towards the bags of food that had been placed on the coffee table.  I handed a bag to Rachel and Pete and then grabbed my bag of food. I sat back down on the lounge and started to eat my food, but as much as I loved my Nando’s, it just wasn’t doing anything for me today.  I nibbled at my chips, but I couldn’t touch anything else. I looked around the room and realised that everyone else was doing pretty much the same.

“Do you want me to put another movie on?” I asked them.

“I think I am gonna head, Perrie will be finished rehearsal soon and I was gonna meet up with her.” Zayn said.

“Yeah I think I will go as well.” Harry said as he stood up and took his left over food into the kitchen.

“Me too, I should go and see Dani.” Liam said as he stood up and followed Harry.

“We will stay.” Eleanor said as she jumped up from the floor and claimed Liam’s former seat.
