Chapter 12

 

NIALL

I jumped up from where I had been lying, Tears streaming down my face.  I looked at Rachel lying in the bed in front of me. The machines were still beeping at the normal speed. I grabbed her wrist and felt her pulse on my finger tips.

It had been a dream. Only a dream. I sunk to the floor and tried to catch my breath. I thought she was gone. I thought I had lost her forever but she was still here, her heart was beating she was fighting.

I heard a noise from her bed and I quickly jumped up to see what was going on. Her eyes were open and she was struggling. I quickly pressed the button for the nurse they came running in and I felt like I was dreaming all over again.

“Shh Rachel it is ok. You are in hospital. You have had an accident. You have a tube in your throat to help you breath. Just relax.” The nurse said to her calmly. She waited until Rachel had calmed down and then she went on.

“We will assess how you are going shortly and then we may be able to take the tube out, but you have to remember to relax and try not to talk.”

I saw her nodding slightly. The nurse left the room and I moved to the bed. I grabbed Rachel’s hand and held it tightly.

I saw her frown and then look away from me.

“Rachel, I am so sorry. I didn’t mean it. I swear I didn’t” I pleaded with her.

She still kept her head to the side. I heard a croaky sound come from her.

“Shh don’t talk.”

“Go.” I heard her croak.

I sat down in the chair. She didn’t want me here. I can’t say that I blamed her really. I looked at her wiped my eyes to try and stop the tears that had started to fall down my face.

I stood up and went back to her bed. I leaned over and kissed her on the forehead.

“I will go, but please remember that I love you so much and I am so sorry about everything.” I said.

I kissed her again and then turned around and walked out of the room.

RACHEL

I tried to hold back the tears when Niall kissed me goodbye. When I had first woken up and seen him, I didn’t want him there, but the look on his face when I told him to go broke my heart.

What was it about Niall that made me feel this way. I had my eyes closed when he had come over and kissed me.

“I will go, but please remember that I love you so much and I am so sorry about everything.” He said, and then he kissed me again.
