This story is one I've made over the course of a year. I was working a lot to create it, and I've talked about it even more on my DeviantArt account where I drew some art for the characters which mainly consisted of the main character who I still can't draw worth a damn, lol. At the end of the day the story is more important than the art.
It's - in no uncertain terms - very brutal to read once things get going. If you're familiar with any form of my writing you'll know I have very intimate knowledge of fighting and even biology/biomechanics as it relates to fighting. This story is bloody, even by my standards. It's morbid. The subject matter of the story is hard to explain, but my friends have agreed that it's something good. I don't know whether it is, I may never know. I was going to publish it fully, then that fell through due to circumstances outside of my control, and then I worked on it more.
I have rewritten, revised, and started anew so many times during the drafting process that I can recite specific plotlines by cliffnotes almost verbatim. It's also kind of a love letter to a specific kind of story that I can't describe. One where the setting is dark and brutal, yet at the same time there's some unexplainable sense of hope.
This is going to be a beta of sorts. I'm hoping to self publish this, but what I mean is serializing the chapter releases in a way that I can offer early chapters for donations while keeping the story itself free. I value my story being seen and experienced more than the profit it could make. Not to mention, I don't agree with charging people read something they may not enjoy. A small preview could work, of course, but I just think it's more fair to offer the alternative of getting the opportunity to read the full story after a set date than having to pay for it when not everyone can or is willing to.
I haven't set anything up yet as it's still early, but if you see anything weird in the chapters like typos or such call it out.
Thank you - relatingewe.
Here's some of the art that I made. Forgive the low quality as I'm not an artist:
Size scale for canines | most recent image
Cover
Random Image
Amanda and Snaps
(Ignore the shoulders, I was still figuring out the proper anatomy)
Tory (top) | Red's bike (bottom)
This was basically the first image I drew of the story, a reference for the ages. Really low res.
There's much more on my DA. I won't link it because I'm unsure of whether Wattpad will allow it, but if you want it's there. I'll start trying to upload from here out every Tuesday. I'd also appreciate any suggestions at tagging because I'm shit at it.
