My heart pounded in my chest as I stumbled back to the villa, my mind a whirlwind of confusion and betrayal. Every step felt heavy, as if I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. I couldn't believe what Lily had told me, couldn't wrap my head around the fact that Shraf had been engaged to another woman for five years. It felt like a nightmare, a cruel joke played on me by fate.
As I approached the villa, I felt a sense of detachment from my surroundings. The lush green trees and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore faded into the background as my thoughts consumed me. I didn't know how I had made it back here, how I had managed to walk through the doors of our villa. All I knew was that I needed answers, and I needed them now.
I barged into Shraf's office, my heart racing as I saw him sitting at his desk, still working. His dark eyes lifted to meet mine, and for a moment, we just stared at each other. The silence was deafening, filled with unspoken words and unanswered questions.
"How dare you?" I screamed, my voice trembling with anger and betrayal.
Shraf's expression remained eerily calm as he asked, "What's going on, Eva?" His composed demeanor only fueled my anger.
"How dare you lie to me? How dare you make a mockery of our marriage?" The anger spilled over, drowning the pain momentarily.
I pointedly locked eyes with him, desperate for an explanation, for some semblance of truth. Shraf rose from his chair, walking towards me with deliberate steps. I could see the faint lines of confusion in his eyes, but I I stepped back, the betrayal cutting too deep for comfort.
I reached into my purse, pulling out the aged photograph Lily had shown me."Explain this, Shraf!" I demanded, thrusting the picture toward him. His jaw clenched as his eyes fixed on the image.
"Who gave you this?" he demanded, his voice low and controlled. The weight of his question hung in the air, and I felt a surge of emotions threatening to drown me.
The dam of betrayal broke within me, and I screamed, "Lily! She claimed to be your fiancée for the past five years!" The words tasted bitter on my tongue, a bitter truth that shattered the illusion of our life together.
Shraf's face hardened, his eyes narrowing. "Lily," he muttered under his breath, as if the name held a weighty significance.
The air crackled with tension as he took a step closer, and I, consumed by a cocktail of emotions, threw the picture at his face. "Explain, Shraf! Explain why you never told me about her!" My voice wavered, a symphony of betrayal and rage echoing through the room. Tears prickled at the corners of my eyes as I struggled to keep them at bay.
His jaw clenched even tighter, and his eyes bore into mine. I could see the anger and frustration etched into his features, but I refused to back down. This was my life, my marriage, and I demanded answers.
"You need to calm down, Eva. It's not what it seems," he insisted, his voice measured and composed. But I wasn't in the mood for calmness or control. I was in the mood for answers, for clarity, for truth.
"Then what is it, Shraf?!" I spat out, my voice caught in my throat, and angry tears prickled at the corners of my eyes.
The weight of the betrayal was crushing me, leaving me feeling lost and alone. "Are you going to give me answers or not?"
Shraf remained silent, his expression unchanged. His silence only fueled my rage further. I felt a surge of emotions threatening to drown me as I took a deep breath and squared my shoulders.
"You are not gonna play with me anymore, Shraf," I said firmly. "I will divorce you, right now."
Leaving Shraf's office, my footsteps echoed through the corridor as I stormed into our room. slamming the door behind me. Shraf followed close behind, his expression unreadable. I could feel the weight of his silence pressing down on me, suffocating me.
