The Prophecy
The two girls were two of the most prized customers. She had known the kids since they were in the eighth grade. Milly turned to the girls holding the coffee out to them. “ On the house for my favorite customers.”, she said, smiling at them.
“ Thank you Mrs. Milly, you're so kind to us.”, Emma said as she snuck the amount it would cost for the coffee under the bar. She knew Mrs. Milly would find it later. Leo smiled and hugged the elderly lady with a smile and thank you.
“ No thank you girls, you’ve made an old ladys day.”, she said, pushing the compliments off like she normally does. The two girls had grown to be very beautiful and smart women.
Emma gave Milly another hug, before Leo dragged her out the door saying that they shouldn’t keep her father waiting. The girls waved bye to Mrs. MIlly and opened the door, the small bell chiming as they exited. Emma chuckled and shook her head a bit as she walked to the car and got into the driver's side. She had pushed a jumpy Leo towards the passenger first though. Emma didn’t let anyone drive her baby. Leo gave a small pout in Emma’s direction before climbing into the passenger seat and buckling up. After Emma finished buckling up she started the car and back out of the parking space and drove to the exit. She made sure she was clear and took a left heading towards her dad's house.
Minutes later after a nice jam session with some more Rob Zombie and some three days grace, they had finally arrived at her parents house. Leo jumped out before Emma even turned the car off, running to the door and completely walking in with no care of knocking. Well she had been doing that since they were in grade school, but they always knew she was coming beforehand. Emma smiled and got out of her car grabbing her gear and Leo’s moving it to her fathers 1972 silver-gray jeep. When she was done with that she walked up the small stairs and opened the door to her childhood home. Her mom smiled seeing her and walked over giving her a huge hug.
“ Hey love bug, how are you doing?”, her mother asked. She pulled away her similar auburn hair moving over her shoulders. Emma’s mom looked just like her but her eyes were a hazel color and she was a bit tanner.
“ I am doing good mom, eating well and getting enough money to pay bills.”, she said with a smile gently holding her mom's arms. She felt as if her mom hadn't changed much at all since the last visit. It made her happy to see she was feeling better and the treatments for her depression were working.
“ That’s wonderful honey, but when are you going to find yourself a husband? It’s about time you find someone to share your life with.”, she said, giving her a playful smirk as she stepped away. She walked over to the counter where she had some veggies and a knife.
“ You know I haven’t found anyone who actually cares about me mom. I mean I have Leo but she has Chance.”, she finished as she walked over to sit at the table where her dad and Leo were talking. She sighed a bit as she tried to hear what they were talking about.
“ Yes, but we should get some crabs to go along with the gumbo,''Leo said. As she sat back in her chair taking a sip of her coffee.
"Hmm gumbo sounds really good right now, maybe you should have it at the next family dinner?",Emma's father said, sliding his wife a look. In return she nodded with a smile.
" We should make crab cake with the crabs that haven't had them in a while.", Emma said as she leaned forward with a smile. Her mother's crab cakes were the best.
" That sounds even better!", her father said, rubbing his belly a bit. " We will get going, the drive is going to take a bit.", he said, standing up and pushing his chair in. Then he walked over to his wife May and kissed her cheek.
