"Knock Knock knock." Chris opens up the bottom of our tree house to let in Gordie. Chris and I were playing a game of cards and Gordie was reading a magazine he just bought. "How do you know if a Frenchman has been in your back yard?" Chris says. "Hey, I'm French, okay?" I say back to him. "Your garbage cans are empty and your dog's pregnant." Gordie and Chris start laughing. "Didn't I just say I was French?" After that me and Chris just continue our game and we hear a knock but it isn't our "secret" knock. "That's not the secret knock." Chris yells out. "Oh guys just let me in." "Vern." Chris, Gordie, and I say at the same time" "Hey, Can you guys sleep out tonight?" Vern says with breaks every five seconds. "Yeah probably" Gordie says "I knock" I say "You pile of shit, you have no pack hand." Chris says angrily at me. "This pile of shit has a thousand eyes." Chris and Gordie laugh. "You guys wanna see a dead body?" Everyone just stops talking when Vern says the story. "Well, I was under the porch digging for my coins, when Billy and Charlie come out and say they found the body of Ray Brower on the Back Harlow Road." Everyone in our gang follows the Ray Brower story closely, since he was our age. "I know that road! Me dad and I used to fish there. And he probably followed the tracks there and at night, Smacko." I said. "Hey, I bet if we find that body we will get our names in the paper!" Chris said "Yeah even be on tv!" I replied "I don't know, Billy and Charlie will know I heard and will hide us." Vern said "No one will care, because it will be your getting all of the glory Vern, and they would be side people." Gordie said. "Yeah! My dad will hide me anyway but it's worth the hiding!" Chris said "Yeah!" "Gordie will you go?" Chris asked. "Sure." He said. "Vern?" "Vern. Vern. Vern. Vern" Chris and I said while pinching his cheeks and rubbing his head "Ok." He finally said "Yeah!" Chris said over and over again. "This is good. This is good" I said over and over again. Then, later that day we all got ready to set out to find the body of Ray Brower.
