"He will pay with pain and death........."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Enough of bad memories.....you must be tired of your journey Alex," said Zev, Alex nodded wearily. Zev stood up from the chair and led Alex upstairs where he would spend the night.
"Is there anything you need Alex?" asked Zev.
Alex shook his head, "No, I'm fine.....I just need a bit of rest."
"Alright Alex....I'll be across the hallway if you need anything," said Zev and with that he walked out of the room and closed the door. Alex sighed and sat down on the bed in the room. He took his bag and set it on the floor, not bothering to unpack. He was too tired to do so and with out changing his clothes he laid on the bed. His eyes started to droop but he couldn't help but wonder the reason why his grandfather trained him if he would end up being killed at age 15. Why train him at all? Why waste the time? With those thoughts in mind he pondered in them. He slowly drifted off to sleep. Waiting for tomorrow for answers, but he didn't imagine that he would have more questions than answers tomorrow.
Across the hall in the other room Zev sighed. He walked to his desk and sat down in the leather chair He wasn't surprised at Alex's reactions to what he told him, but he wondered at Alex's reactions for what he was going to reveal to him tomorrow. His eyes wondered around the room and landed on a portrait of his wife, Hikaru. He smiled at the photo.....
"If you could see Alex now Hikaru......he reminds me so much of you." He heard someone faintly knocking on the door. The engine of a motorcycle could be heard outside. Zev got up from the leather chair and looked out the window. In the dim light he could make out a person on the front steps. He recognized the black hair and grey eyes for it was his nephew, Shun. Zev went into the hallway, downstairs and opened the door.
Shun was leaning on the railing of the stairs, but when he saw Zev at the doorway he stood straight. He bowed in sign of respect, "Yane-sama," (Uncle) said Shun.
"Shun I wasn't expecting you tonight...what brings you all the way out here?"
"Aren't you suppose to be with your grandfather's house?" asked Zev. Shun frowned and his eyes filled with anger at the mention of his so-called grandfather.
"He'll be out for a few days," Shun answered, Zev raised an eyebrow.
"Out where?" Zev asked.
Shun shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know well....he doesn't tell me those things because he doesn't exactly trust me, Uncle." he said as if it were obvious.
Zev's gave Shun a small smile, "Come in, it's late and you need to rest." With that Shun walked into Zev's cabin, and sat on the couch in the living room. An awkward silence filled the air.
"Did Alex agree to it?" Shun asked, breaking the silence. Zev frowned, and Shun looked at him.
"You didn't tell him?" he asked in disbelief. Zev shook his head, sighed and sat down.
"It's complicated Shun, after all he did just find out I'm his father. I don't want to give him all the information at once." Zev said.
"Then what are you going to tell him and how about how his "friend" is involved cause' you do know that he'll find out eventually," Shun replied.
"I have thought of that and that part I won't hide it from him,"
"What about Luke did he accept?" asked Shun. Zev nodded, "Whats up with all the questions Shun?"
"To be honest Uncle, I------" Shun trailed off, thinking how to say it lightly.
"Shun what are you trying to say?" asked Zev.
Shun swallowed, "-I'm not sure we can.......you know.....trust them, I mean what if they turn on us?"
"Adam and Elizabeth are good friends, they asked this favor, and I gave them my word that I would do it. Anyways I also accepted because Alex and their son are friends. To get to the point Shun, they really aren't in the position of being able to risk to double-cross us because they are in need to of some protection to their son." Zev said.
Shun nodded thoughtfully, "Then how are you going to explain all of this to Alex?" he pressed on.
"That we'll have to figure out tomorrow, now go and sleep you need to rest." Zev stated.
Shun nodded, "I'll be in the outer cabin.....I don't want Alex to notice me here earlier than what you planned him to...." he said and went through the kitchen door to the path to the outer cabin. Zev sighed and ran his hand through his hair, he shook his head and headed to his room to try and get some rest.
Shun knew that his cousin wasn't a fan of him and that's something that even Zev knew. He knew that the way that Alex would react to him being there and knowing about his father would wither make the bond stronger or weaker, but in the way that this was going it might destroy completely the bond 'cause since the beginning they never had one.
