Nene, Elijah, Kayla, Jenny, and Sean met up at a coffee shop to discuss what happened to their friends. They hadn't spoke to them in a week and knew that they had gone to a party. No one had seen Or heard from then ever since.
"Where do you guys think they are?" Elijah said.
"Well they asked me if I wanted to go down and visit them for the party but I said no because I was spending time with Jenny. This is the address to wherever they went." Kayla said.
She showed them the address on her phone.
"So at least we may have some idea of what their doing."
"Shouldn't we talk to the authorities?" Jenny suggested.
"The police searched for 3 days and couldn't find anything. We're on our own." Elijah said.
They drive to the address on the invitation, the house was on a hill and no other houses were next to it. There were no cars parked in the driveway either. Elijah walked up to the door of the house and knocked on it.
"Is there anyone home?" He yelled.
No one answered.
Again, he knocked
"Hello?"
No one answered.
Sean and Kayla peeked through the windows, the house didn't seem to be occupied. As a last resort Elijah rammed his shoulder into the door, it eventually broke down. As they walked into the house they saw black vines similar to the ones they saw at the hotel scattered throughout the house. The vines seemed to lead somewhere, they followed them. They went up the stairs, then down a hall, and then through a door. Behind the door was an orange, x shaped portal on the floor, the edges being black and slimy vines. The vines were moving, and growing longer.
"What the hell..." Elijah said.
"Another portal? It looks just like the one we saw at the hotel..." Kayla said
"The vines too..." Sean said.
"Do you guys think they're on the other side?" Nene said.
"Yup." Elijah said.
"Well I'm going through it. If Ava's on the other side, I need to help her." He said again.
"I'm going too! They don't trust me, and I need to make things right with them." Nene explained.
"I'm going too then," Sean added.
"Me too." Kayla said.
"Me too." Jenny said.
"No. No, you cannot come. I don't know what's on the other side of this portal and I can't lose you." Kayla said again.
"I want to help you!" Jenny replied.
Kayla stared at Jenny. She gave in.
"You'll come, but I swear nothing bad is happening to you while we're there."
"Well are you guys ready to go in?" Sean said.
"Of course." Nene said.
She jumped into the portal, and then they all did.
Meanwhile, Jobe, Sophia, Ella, and Jeremiah were in a dimension called the corrupt. They had been wandering around the dimension, the area was a very futuristic neighborhood, but abandoned. The sky was a dark-teal color. They first arrived at a giant-abandoned-futuristic mall. That's where they would sleep at night. They tried looking for a way out but couldn't find one. Some of the lights worked, some electronic things did too, and there was a food court in the mall that had a bunch of water, and frozen foods, and ovens that still turned on, they used those so they wouldn't starve or dehydrate to death.
"Ugh... it's so boring here!" Ella said.
"I know, but on the bright side no evil gods are trying to kill us!" Sophia said.
The four of them were sitting in front of a a screen on the wall that wasn't on. There were a bunch of tv's next to that screen. This was all on a platform in the middle of the mall.
"I miss Ava." Ella said.
"Me too." Jobe said.
"Do you guys think there'll ever be a way to bring her back?" Sophia asked.
"Not in this place." Jobe answered.
They rested for a while, laying in silence.
"Guys let's get up and do something! This is such a big mall, there has to be somewhere in this place that's fun!" Jeremiah said.
He ran to the big skating rink sign plastered above an entrance,
"Why don't we see if there's any roller skates we can use here?" He said again.
They got up and went over to the area. There were two big light switches on the side of the wall. Jobe pressed them as he went in. Blue and purple lights came on and music started playing. A giant mirror ball then descended from the middle of the room from the ceiling. The ball reflected light onto different parts of the room, making it glisten beautifully. Jeremiah went into the back and turned on all of the appliances in the rink. Ella filled a cup with a slushie from the fully functioning and surprisingly cooled drink dispensers. Jobe got roller skates from behind the counter and gave them to everyone. They skated around the big circle dancing to the synth-y, 80's goodness blasting from big speakers with excellent sound quality. For an abandoned skating rink, it was super fun. They did this for two hours... doing tricks, and holding hands, and twirling on one leg. It was a break from them being stuck in some post-apocalyptic world. It was in the middle of this that Jobe heard a noise coming from downstairs. He skated out and looked to the right, there was nothing there. Then he looked to the left, he saw Kayla, Elijah, Sean, Nene, and Jenny standing next to the metal rails of the second story of the mall they were at. He and Nene locked eye contact. Nene knowing he was still mad at her. He hugged everyone except for her.
"Guys! Kayla, Elijah, Sean, and Jenny are here." Jobe yelled.
The others skated, as they did so a loud boom echoed through the whole mall. Green fog started trickling up the escalators that didn't work, Sean walked up to it and inhaled it unknowingly. He fell to the floor, convulsing. His skin becoming discolored. His veins pulsed violently as he he screamed with the voice of ten men.
"Sean! Are you okay!" Elijah said.
"What the fuck happened to him?" Kayla questioned.
"He inhaled that fog! Stay away from it!" Elijah yelled.
Sean's head turned 180 degrees backwards, and his joints cracked as they were bent backwards, to get in a crawling position. His skin was bubbling, everywhere.
"Breathe in the fog, Elijah!" He uttered in a distorted version his old voice as he stealthily crawled after the group that had just arrived.
