As I picked up the phone to Lay's call, she greeted me with a cheerful "Hey, Ash." I couldn't help but respond with a bit of morning grumpiness, "Hey, Lay, what do you want?" She chuckled, "Why you gotta be so aggressive?" I shot back, "It's 8 in the morning, I'm tired as hell."
"Okay, my bad," Lay apologized, "but I wanted to ask if you wanted to come to my grandma's cookout today at 1:00."
I agreed, asking, "Is Dara coming?" Lay confirmed, "Yeah, she is. You know she wouldn't miss my grandma's food!" I chuckled, "Yeah, you're right."
Lay suggested, "Tell Dara to come to my house at 11:30, so we can all get ready together. Okay, bye, love you." I reciprocated, "Love you too."
At 11:30 A.M., Lay and Dara arrived at my place with all their stuff to get dressed. I greeted them with a cheerful "
Hi, Lay! Hey, Dara!" I asked, "Y'all ready to get started?" They responded in unison, "Hell yeah!" By 12:15, we were all set and ready to go.
