When did it all start to go wrong?
What did I do to deserve this?
All I did was do my best...
But all it led to was this moment. Standing at the edge of a building, barely holding onto the dying flames in my heart that keeps me from taking the final step, that keeps me from taking my final breath in this unjust world that favors the words of money rather than the words of passion, honor and justice.
The flame that is being stomped out by the rain falling from the sky as it gives its final cry.
The view over the city would have taken the breath away from anyone who made it in life, who succeeded in life, who had a meaning with life.
But for someone who lost all means to enjoy life to the fullest , it all just looked colorless and boring. All the blinding lights from the cars and buildings shone like a dying flame. All the bright colors from the billboards faded into nothingness. All the people walking below, oblivious to the world's unfairness, shielded from the rain under their umbrellas as they hurried along to their homes where they would be welcomed with open arms and warm embraces. To their homes that hide no secrets.
In the distance a rumbling could be heard as more people started disappearing from the streets in fear of the thunder closing in.
As lightning struck the ground, giving off a loud noise, as if replicating the sound of a wooden pointer hitting a desk to give off the authority of its wielder. The face of an arrogant man appears as he stares at his prey with eyes that have been ingrained in the mind of his victims. The feeling of the rain slowly started to fade as the night sky view changed to one of a lecture hall with rows and rows of seats that surrounded the two remaining people in the hall. The girl stood frozen to the ground, unable to move as the eyes of the predator pierced through her while he circled around her, the repeating sound of tapping echoed through the hall. With the flick of a wrist the pointer struck the girl's knees from behind, causing her to fall to her knees as the pain flowed through her like lightning. Trying not to make a sound she bit down on her lip as her eyes watered, threatening to fall.
As the sound of another thunder echoed through the buildings, the tears she had held back for years finally fell, mixing together with the rain that soaked her. Her last piece of hope fell with her tears as they rolled off the tanned skin of her face.
Her eyes wandered the streets that were now devoid of people, she looked up at the sky a final time, as if searching for a reason to hold on. Taking a step forward she let gravity do its work and started falling closer to the ground.
Her hair covered her face as she fell head first towards the end of her never ending suffering. Closing her eyes for the final time she asked for forgiveness from her parents for being weak.
