~Kankri's POV~
I ran as fast as I could, down both flights of stairs and nearly falling down one. The sound of my shoes tapping on the stairs sounded like angry rain drops. My mind was ecstatic. Constant worries and thoughts rushed back and forth in my brain, making my eyes twitch in fear. I was terrified to say the least. An encounter like that had not happened since earlier last year and no matter how many times it happened, it was still daunting and anxiety inducing. I dashed down the hall to the only place I could go, lunch. I was getting increasingly hungry and it is where I am supposed to be in the first place. I began to slow down my pace as I neared the doors. I glanced behind me to see nothing and nobody, just an empty hall. I sighed softly in relief and pushed open the door, to be once again, engulfed in chatter. I sauntered over casually to the table I usually say at, but it was oddly already filled. I didn't recognize any of the people as I looked around the table, so I decided to go looking for my colleagues. They had to be around here somewhere. "Kankri!!"
I heard a slurred voice cry. "Over here asshat!!" The voice called again. I turned around to see a yellow, black, blue and red body waving frantically in my general direction. He was leaning so far off the bench-seat, he fell right over, his arm protecting his head from impacting the floor first. I walked over to the mostly yellow mess that had just desperately tried to get my attention. "FFFFFFFFF-inally you fucker! I was trying to get your... your--" He was cut off by a calm female voice. "Attention." She added. "Oh right. Attention for like, ever!!" He laughed as he shakily brought himself back to his seat. "Oh, yes. Hello Mituna. Sorry for not noticing you before. I was just... caught up for a moment." I said as I sat down in an empty seat in front of Mituna and Latula while I sat beside Porrim. Like always, but in a different area this time around. I pulled my backpack to my lap and unzipped it, not even bothering to trigger-warn Mituna on using such vulgar words and shakily pulling out a small brown paper bag which held my lunch. I was still pretty shell-shocked and looked kinda frightened, like I had seen a ghost or something spooky of that manner. I shake that expression off my face and dug into my lunch. This day is going to be much more stressful than I thought...((Thanks for reading this chapter of "Our Vows"! Now, I just wanted to ask a question; I've had this DirkJake one shot/short story bouncing around in my head for a bit now and I wanted to ask, would any of you want that story idea to become a reality? Comment if you do! Oh, and I just wanted to point out that for some reason I can't comment or even vote, so I'm sorry for all those people I never responded to when I really and truly wanted to reply. Well, see y'all in the next chapter!))
