Gianas' first impression of California was NOT good. Too many people shoving shitty merch and old copies of their SoundCloud tapes in her face. However, There was one saving grace: karate. Gia has been practicing karate for as long as she can remember. When Gia found an old wooden platform and saw a man moving around on it, almost as if he were dancing, her curiosity was sparked. She would come to the same spot every day for almost a month, watching.Until one day he spoke

"Giana-San, you know I can see you" and motioned for the girl to join him.

The curly-haired girl looked to the ground as she walked to the platform surrounded by trees, he held a hand so the girl could get up and walk to the middle.

"Kiotsuke'' the girl nodded.

"Rei" the girl bowed down,

He got into a fighting position, nodding at Gia to do the same. She raised her hands and tried to block his weak hits. That was the day Gia learned wax on wax off. Ever since that day, the girl would wake up and go to the old platform and train before school.

Gia was now in some stupid old house, trying not to think about how much she missed Okinawa.

"Giana, go out and do something. We've been here for 3 days now, and you haven't left this house. Go explore and look at the beach or something,"her mother said while leaning on the door frame

Gia mumbled a small ok before heading to her closet and grabbing a blue bikini that had blue and red flowers, a short denim skirt, and a cream-colored canvas tote to put her beach towel and book

"Bye Mom!" Gia shouted before leaving the house

. The short-haired girl wandered around, listening to music, until she came across the packed beach. She looked around before settling near an empty volleyball net, reading her book and listening to music. If she closed her eyes tight, she could imagine being on the rocky coast near her house in Japan. A group of teens taking up the net in front of her interrupted her moment of peace. The teen with blue hair barely looked at her as he tossed the ball to a lanky guy with brown hair. Gia sat up, slightly surprised, ready to move if the ball got too close to her. The tall boy just barely caught the ball and started to crack his neck, getting ready to serve it over the net. As he served the ball, it hit the dead center of the net.

"Mulligan, send it back," the lanky boy said.

His friend scoffed. "There are no mulligans in volleyball,"

"says you'' the boy utters and walks to get water

I laughed under my breath as the boy blubbered to two pretty girls trying to flirt with him. He watches as the girls leave then looks down, surprised to notice me.

"Oh...hey" he squeaks out "I'm Demetri '' he looked surprised he said that

"Gia"

I say looking up at the boy. He looks down at my chest, staring for a bit.
