The next day, Chuu asked to meet with the CEO and go over contracts. He refused, but he did send a staff member to explain them to her. He said that the contracts gave the company full power over what the members did. What activities they participated in, what shows they were on, what they wore, what they ate, when they slept, everything. He also said that although the paychecks for the lower-ranked employees had been delayed for years, there had been no mistake with the members' payments. He said that the contracts made it so that the members earned 10% of the revenue from each promotion period, split among the twelve members, but they also had to pay for 50% of the production costs, in which they had no say over. Since Loona's content was extremely artistic and expensive and they had never really gained fame or success, they owed the company way more than the company legally owed them. Because of this, it turned out that all of the members were actually losing quite a bit of money every time they made something instead of gaining it, and all the members were in debt to the company with no way of making it up since they were also not allowed to have another job.
Hearing this made Chuu furious. This was outrageous! She realized she was being seriously mistreated and it wasn't right. As soon as she heard the news, she immediately told everything to the members.
"This is insane! No way they expect us to be their happy little workers in conditions like this! We work hard day and night to make their money while they sit on their booties all day doing nothing but watching with greedy little smiles on their face... Outrageous!" Hyeju said.
"I know. That's why I'm going to do something about this," Chuu said.
The members all started talking at once.
"Heck yeah, stick it to the man!" Yves cheered.
"Please don't make any rash decisions... We can't afford to take any more hits," Kim Lip said.
"Actually, since we got invited to Queendom 2 (a competition show), I think that means we are doing pretty well. It's not like they can make us disband or anything just for asking for fair treatment, especially if people think we are Queendom material!" Hyunjin said.
"What exactly is it that you're planning on doing, anyway?" Gowon asked.
The room went silent and everyone turned their head to Chuu.
"Well, about that... You guys have seen the Extraordinary Attorney Woo (a TV show), right?" Chuu asked.
"Yeah..? We all have. What's your point?" Jinsoul asked.
"Well, I was thinking... Maybe I could file a lawsuit? Like they do in the show? The company has got to be doing something illegal here."
"You're crazy! They'll kick you out if you try something like this!" Yeojin protested.
"No, they won't. Chuu is the whole reason we've made it this far, and the company knows it. If they kick her out, they would lose thousands of fans and money, and if we know anything about the company, it's that they never want to lose their precious money." Yves said.
"She's got a point. If anyone has a chance at making a difference, it's Chuu," Hyeju said.
"And if she wins, they'll have to let all of us win too! It wouldn't be fair if they didn't," Choerry added.
"Great, it's decided. I'll file a lawsuit to get control of our schedule, get paid fairly, and be let outside for as long as we wish. They can't say no because they would be risking losing their main money maker. Then once I win, they'll have to say yes to you guys as well or it would look bad for them. We have them in a checkmate!" Chuu said
They did not, in fact, have the company in a checkmate.
