chapter two - the masquerade

Walking into the Lockwood estate Juliet was extremely nervous, if this went wrong they could consider themselves all dead. Smoothing down her dress and fixing her mask, walking over to one of the many tables supplied with champagne looking around to see if anyone is looking before picking up a glass.

"I feel like if I was human I would still be able to hear your heartbeat it's so fast" she heard from behind making her jump. Turning around Damon is standing there in a suit with his signature smirk on his face.

"God you scared the hell out of me" she said slapping Damon on the chest. Taking the glass out of her hand and downing it, "Underage drinking is so shameful" he smirked.

Scoffing, she looks around the room searching for Katherine "Are you sure this is going to work?" she questions nervously.

"Relax shortie this plan is foolproof, nothing is going to happen'' he said confidently. Oh how wrong he was.

Leaving Damon to do his thing Juliet walks around trying to find Bonnie. Making her way outside she sees Bonnie and Jeremy talking to Elena? Rushing over to the three "What the hell, she isn't supposed to be here!" she says pointing towards Elena.

"What is going on?" She questions the group.

"We can explain Elena" Bonnie started and Jeremy walked over to the group. "Were trying to kill Katherine"

"Are you crazy?" Elena started, "You're trying to kill her here?"

"We had an opportunity and we had to take it" The boy told his sister.

"This is crazy" Elena muttered. Seeing her discomfort Juliet spoke up "We're doing this for Jenna, she's messing with people who don't even know what's going on."

Coming to terms with the idea of killing Katherine, Elena goes to ask about the plan but before she can a loud cry leaves her lips as she cradles her shoulder. All three of them desperately try to figure out what's going on and why she is bleeding.

"What's going on!" Jeremy is frantic seeing the pool of blood on his sister's back.

"It's Katherine. She's linked to Katherine, you have to stop them, now!" Bonnie orders Jeremy and he wastes no time taking off in a run to let them know.

"Oh god" Juliet mutters under her breath trying to conceal the concern on her face to maybe make Elena feel better. "It's going to be okay, just breathe. We're going to get the link broken okay" Juliet comforts her.

"It hurts" She whimpers, leaning against her friend.

"I cant break the spell, Im sorry" Bonnie panics "But I can try to take some of the pain away okay?" Muttering words under her breath she tries her best to relieve her friend from some of the pain she's feeling.

"Is she okay?" Jeremy asked as he ran towards the girls. "You were right, Katherine had a witch link the two" he added.

"The girl I saw!" Bonnie gasped. Standing on her feet she turned to the house and said "Stay with her, there's another witch here and I'm going to find her and keep pressure on her shoulder!"

"Hey, everything is going to be okay alright" Juliet tells her friend.

Letting out a breath Elena nodded. "Okay"

The party was over and Juliet was walking Elena to her car. "How are you feeling?" The blonde asked her friend.

"I don't know, my body hurts and my heart hurts because I told Stefan we cant be together" She sighed.

"But Katherine is taken care of now and you two love each other" She said to her friend.

"It's not about Katherine, it's about me feeling safe, you guys being safe, the people I love being safe" Elena sighed with tired eyes.

Before Juliet could say anything else she saw Elena's eyes widen and mouth part open almost as if she saw something behind her, going to turn around she was struck on the head and knocked unconscious and the last thing she heard was Elena screaming her name.

Katherine's eyes opened and looked around realizing where she was she stumbled her way to the door and tried to get out.

Desperately trying to get out she threw her body against the invisible spell when Damon stepped out of the shadows. "Hello Katherine" He smirked

"Where am I?" She gritted out.

"Where you should have been all along" The dark haired man gave her a closed lip smile. "I thought you would of learned your lesson of messing with a Bennett witch"

Shoulder falling she breathed out. "You should've killed me"

"Death would of been too kind"

When he started to close the door panic settled in Katherine. "No Damon don't". He ignored the girl and she grew more desperate, "You need me, Elena's in danger"

That caught his attention, "You're lying, you're always lying" He seethed.

"Why do you think I haven't killed her? She's the doppleganger, she needs to be protected" she shouted.

"I'll protect her" He shrugged.

"He's coming and when he does it won't just be for Elena, he will come for JJ too and will not leave without her" She pleaded, Katherine was desperate and as much as she wanted to keep what she knew of the younger Forbes she needed out.

Damon ignored her warnings and shut the tomb door while hearing the cries from the girl.

"Rot in hell you evil bitch" He whispered.
