𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊𝐒- probably even months- since I've actually slept through an entire night. My body is exhausted, but it's my mind that keeps me stirring awake. I crave the solace I feel at night during the day, then when it actually comes, this "solace" turns into pure isolation.
I've been laying on my back for probably hours by now, trying to force myself to fall asleep. Physically, I desperately need a good nights rest. Mentally, I just can't.
It's almost four when I check the time, and I've already decided that I wouldn't be getting any sleep tonight. It's a Thursday night, Friday technically, and my first class is early in the morning. I'd just wait until I got home from school to crash.
I huff, pushing away my covers and pillows. I feel restless enough and the feeling of them touching me is just irritating me even more. Closing my eyes and forcing myself to sleep is pointless, so I get off my bed and do my nightly routine of walking around my room until I'm bored. Every single time I end up at my desk without fail.
Unsurprisingly, it takes me around seven minutes before I'm opening up my laptop to an assignment.
An assignment that requires notes I do not have. Most likely because of the lessons I keep skipping. School itself is important to me; but my attendance only ever moves on a downward curve.
My only option seems to be to forget the work and lay in bed with nothing but thoughts. But that does not sound appealing at all.
So I open my phone and text the one person that is likely to have the notes I need.
It's late and the chances are that River won't reply and I honestly don't expect him to. But the odds of it are keeping me from losing my mind.
I need something to do.
I put my phone on my desk, anxiously shaking my leg and messing with my hands. I've no clue how long passes, but I hear a vibration coming from my phone. Quickly, I unlock it and surprisingly find that River had responded. I expected him to be asleep, and surely a single text didn't wake him.
Are you crazy? -River
I find myself biting my lip to hold back a smile, but quickly type out a response.
