The two quickly continued their walk to the staircase, unsure of what they'd find when they arrived at the top. Ragnarok was still there a few minutes ago, before throwing Storm of that is. Maybe he had killed many dogs?
When the two arrived at the top, they gasped in relief. Loud cheers of excitement were escaping from the dogs at the other side of the log.
"You did it!" Max screamed.
Aurora chuckled.
"Great job, sis." Anubis praised.
Aurora smiled.
Aurora now noticed Grant and Jade. She quickly ran towards them.
"Where is Storm?" Aurora asked.
Grant and Jade looked at each other, both knowing how hard this was going to be.
Their expressions became sad again.
"Aurora..." Jade started.
"Storm didn't make it." Grant announced sadly.
Aurora's eyes widened in disbelief.
"He did what?" River said, while looking at Grant.
"I didn't hear that correctly." River added.
"You did, River." Grant said.
Aurora broke down in tears and fell to the ground. Jade and River started crying.
"Where's dad?" Max asked, once he had reached the group of dogs.
Aurora looked at her son.
She kissed him on his cheek.
"Daddy isn't here anymore." Jade replied.
"Where is he?" Max asked.
"Yeah, I want to play tag with daddy!" Amber added.
Grant, River, Aurora and Jade looked at each other.
"I don't think that will be possible, Amber." Jade replied sadly.
"What? Why not!" Amber shouted angrily.
"He has left us." Jade replied.
Aurora started crying even more heavily.
"What? Why! Why did you let him leave!" Amber replied in a shocked tone.
"I didn't. Ragnarok did." Jade replied.
"Where did he go?" Amber asked.
"To the sky, high above us!" Jade replied, tears forming in her eyes again.
"How can I go there?" Amber asked.
"You can't." Jade replied.
"But daddy did." Amber said.
"He has started his journey to the clouds." Jade said.
"I want to do that too!" Amber complained.
"You can't. We need you here, on the ground." Aurora replied.
Amber sighed, but nodded.
"Where is his body?" River asked.
"Down there. I don't think you'll be able to see it anymore, as I think there are nothing but ashes." Grant replied.
Aurora fell to the ground.
"Why did he have to leave me?" Aurora asked.
"He had no choice. He tried to save us." Grant replied.
"He left so soon." Zari said.
The puppies snuggle up with their mother, and fall asleep. Aurora did too.
"Look at those angels! None of them deserve this fate!" Zari complained.
Everyone nodded.
Zari looked down. Into the high flames. They all knew that staying in a building with fire was dangerous, but they wouldn't leave Aurora and her puppies' side. They would never leave their side.
